Another Blade Runner blaster showoff!

This is a build-up of a metal Siderio kit. I tried to get it as close to the Worldcon gun as possible, bar the wires, which is too accurate for me.

I left the barrel as unpainted, unpolished metal, with just weathering added. The cylinder cover under the lever was cut out with a small hack-saw.

The green leds are non-functional. I added the grommets to the side of the mag chamber and cut a small hole to add the switch, which was then filed out and filled with Milliput. I replaced the large screw at the front with a hex screw and added faux screws to the side of the magazine.

Thing weighs a ton :)

What is your assessment of the build on this? Was it easy? Were the parts clean?[/b]

Very nice kit. There were a few rough areas that can be sorted out with sandpaper in 20 minutes :)

The kit goes together very easily, some of the smaller mechanisms for the trigger/hammer came already assembled. The metal polishes up niceley with the dremel.

I didn't have any problems with ill-fitting parts that I had heard about. The two issues I had were pretty minimal - the Steyr barrel needs to be glued, as the srew doesn't hold it, and the cylinder release switch doesn't really work. This wasn't a big problem for me, since the cylinder fits snugly in the frame, and doesn't swing free.

Some pics I took of the kit:

Where does this kit come from? Is it still available?
[/b]

I'd like to know availability as well. It looks like a fun project with great results.

Thanks for the review and pics of the kit. That's some food for thought... and balancing the check book :love

Thanks, feels great in the hand :)

You could certainly cause blunt force injury to a replicant :lol

Nice work Birdy.

Am I allowed to say that the sidkit is a recasting off one of my models??

Sure, if you can provide some proof.

But frankly after the way it appears you tried to manipulate the market on this, I am not sure I care anymore.

Please note this is my opinion only and is based on what I read (or maybe read between the lines) here.

Nice build up Birdie.

Which bit exactly now Rich? The kit pictured looks nothing like your comparison pictures you posted a while ago.

And very nice build-up Birdie, probably devalued the real prop by at least a million. :)

I like the weathering. :)

Hey Birdie, looks pretty good, how did you go about making that oddball screw on the right side cover?

What the heck are you taking photos with Birdie? I noticed the "smoky" look with your Jayne's arsenal thread too. You're props are too nice to be photographed this way.. ;) You need Wynn Studios.. B)

Who are you asking? You've said in several threads recently, this is the first time I've seen you ask. :lol It's not a secret Rich, but honestly I think you're going to have to get used to seeing sidkits build ups around here. He charges less for his metal kit than you do for your resin kit. That's going to attract some folks.

Birdie, you built a blaster to be proud of. You've got quite a nice collection of gun related props going. Man after my own heart. :D

Sorry but I still like the RAC prop over the kit mentioned here.Rich and Phil took a lot of time and trouble to research this subject and I think its kinka a little unfair that people take pot shots at someone over the last few weeks over the political crap that went on here.I respect the work that when into this prop and don't think its right to go intom this subject. It a nice build up and lets just leave it at that. Just my 2cents.Thanks

I couldn't agree with you more.

I don't believe it was mentioned before Rich's post, and would imagine had he not brought it up, would have stayed unmentioned throughout.

Rich's work on all his prop replicas is to be respected. The man brought us the single most accurate Blade Runner blaster ever, with blood sweat and tears. Nobody said differently.

Birdie did an awesome build up, and has much to be proud of in his work on his new metal blaster. :love

Yet another for my blaster builders folder. The members here can sure sling some paint.. :thumbsup
