Animated Flying Saucer

I bought several acrylic picnic plates a couple of years ago,and finally inspiration struck:

The original plates had flat bottoms, so I heatformed two shallow domes, cut them to size, and blended them in with filler. It's missing two vertical tailplane on the engines. And a fairing behind the canopy.

From the top, with panel lines, the two engines started out as clear plastic dessert pots!

Underside with more engraved panel lines- does anybody actually enjoy scribing panel lines?

Oh, and the canopy opens:

It's from a popular, current, animated Tv show, it only appeared once, anybody recognise it?

;-)

Very nice model...and yes, I enjoy tracing and scribing those panel lines: it's going to look better that way. Keep up the good work!

Great work!
How do you achieve the engraved panel lines?

I use an Olfa P-Cutter 800, also good for cutting acrylic sheet.

An update, I decided to make the engines a seperate part, as they just wern't sitting properly:

So, rather than being integral to the upper hull, they are now sandwiched between the top and bottom, so there are distinct lines where they meet the hull:

And the base, still need to clean up the filler:

Oh, and no one's got the show yet: a clue: grey alien.

;)

The big clue did help- it has been quite a while since I saw that episode- you really nailed the look of it!

Added engines, made from two Poundshop LED torches, with reflectors:

You can see better here, the shrouds are casts of a cheap Kylo Ren torch, just the right size and shape:

Better look at the LEDs, I replaced the middle one in both engines with a blue LED, giving it a much cooler look:
