ANH Vader "Mystery" Helmet update

Nice progress. Here's personally what I would adjust (sorry to use the Elstree mask but it was the first image I came across that had a similar angle)...nail marks on the cheeks, noseslots expanded/widened to Vader's right, right side of U-shaped part of nose more shallow angle, sand down right cheek a bit from corner of eye to front of cheek as I think Nohumorman mentioned, and trim the front of the neck to make it a bit more rounded up front...just a bit...

Sithlord beat me to it. I'd do the exact same thing. .........but also sharpen up that corner at the tusk tube and mouth triangle when staring at vader face on ..........the left one...

I have not posted new pics yet, because a couple of weeks ago I badly damaged my Knee getting out of my car (Don't ask me how, I just heard a CRUNCH and it really Hurt :eek ), and it's been Very difficult to even walk on it in addition to dong normal everyday things such as driving everyday to work. Now every time I bend my knee I hear a Crunching/Grinding sound, I'll be seeing a Doctor if it doesn't improve, but so far it seems to be getting better :)

Fear not I'll be posting New photos next week showing the progress I've continued to make, I already modified the Neck to the correct size and worked on the face details more.

Stay Tuned, and sorry for the delay...

I just wanted to post an update while I had a moment...

I've been slaving away at work without a day-off for quite a while, and have not had much time to even sleep (yesterday I worked 5:30am to 12:00pm and I'm working today too :( yeah on Thanksgiving).

I'm really sorry for the delay and I understand if anyone is getting impatient, this project is taking longer than expected and I want to do it right and make everyone happy but unexpected delays have made it take longer than planned. I will post new photos as soon as I possibly can.

I may have to bring the Helmet to work with me to complete the modifications during my breaks, since I've had so little time at home to do anything.

By the way, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

If you take it into work just dont go to the WC while Vader is by himself someone may steal him :cry

Don't worry I have a huge Lockbox at work :)

Besides how can anyone steal it... if I'm there the whole time?

What? You planning something? ;) :lol

Has anyone anywhere ever figured out why the eyes on Fiberdyne, etc. are more rounded? Anyone? I ran it by some ILMers and they have no clue, Don Bies included.

No clue, but it annoys the heck out of me.

No offence but Don Bies is not a Vader expert, he's more of an R2 expert.

All that happened is that the eyebrows were sanded down. That makes the eyes appear a little smaller.

The whole curvature of the inner eye is more rounded on those helmets than the originals oval-shape... and that cannot be accounted for by a little sanding of the eyebrows - I know, as I had to cut off a lot of material in the corners of the eyes on my helmet to get a more accurate shape, but not completely accurate. It is simply shaped completely different.

Trust me, that's what happened. Trim off the top part and they will look different in shape but that's because the original eyes are like semi-circles...

Don once claimed to have painted or repainted a vader helmet for Jedi.

After seeing his work on that ESB hero helmet that was auctioned off....that sounds pretty scary ;)

Well, he's a great guy (I met him a couple of times) and knows a bit about the Vader parts and can at least tell the difference between the parts (sometimes....in his achives tour he says the Vader helmet shown is from all three star wars films)...but there are many here more knowledgeable about Vader.

Well it's almost the same everywhere, and across the spectrum of people involved with other movies.

The diehard fanatics seem to get into every detail surprisingly more so than some prop makers, which is pretty weird. I find some movie prop makers who take on these projects are very happy with their achievements but perhaps some of the passion may drain once they get onto their other movie projects. Hence they seem pretty vague in their analysis sometimes.

Actually, I've seen the same thing with people that own original props (apart from those that frequent the forums)...they don't seem to be concerned about details since they know they have an original.
