ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (new custom color scheme!)

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

Yeah. The forearms look a bit too big for you. The strip or space between the two pieces should be 15mm wide. When you move on to the thighs and shins, those strips should be 20mm wide.

ill be making the helmet after i get the rest of the armor done cuz im trying to get it done for a con next month.

i couldnt beleive they got it for me! it was one of the best birthday preasents ive ever gotten.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

When you get to the helmet make sure you check out some of the online tutorials. Take your time with it... Don't rush. Go slowly when you get to trimming the ears. Trim a bit at a time. You can always trim more but if you go rushing in you could take off too much and end up with huge gaps. Gaps are good but not huge ones.

I'm sure you'll do fine as it's looking good so far. Get the correct humbrol paints for the ears, tears, frown and buttons. If you don't a thousand troopers will jump on you for not using the correct paints.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

thanks for the links! thats the reason im saving the helmet for last so i dont try to rush it to meet the deadline for the con, cuz if i dont have it done by then i can always wear my efx helmet.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

i havent had much time to work on the armor the past two days but ive got the belt done and i did a little work on the helmet when i had some spare time. ill have more done tomorrow and post some pics when i do.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

heres an update of how the armor looks now. i have to get a better belt, make a blaster holster, get some shoes, and finish the helmet.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

well today was the first day of momo con where i wore the armor for the first time. it held up pretty well but it also had its problems but i think ive solved them all for tomorrow. heres a couple of pics from today and ill have alot more to put up tomorrow.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

ohh, and heres a pic from yesterday when i was doing a final test fitting.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

Good assembly now get to fixing the helmet and you are wearing your belt way too high The boots look like rubber slip ons. Check out tkboots. TK Boots did yah get any nice armor kisses (pinches or bruises) rite of passage

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

Yeah as said belt is just a tad bit too high. Try slipping the shins over the tops of your boots and get them to stay like that. Also if there isn't that much of a gap between the shins and the thighs then you can always trim a bit off of the top of the thighs. Might help increase manueverability. In the end it what makes you feel comfortable whilst wearing it.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

I'm working on an ABS kit myself. Joining the FISD was the BEST thing I could have done for researching and constructing this armor - a plethora of information on just about everything you need to know!

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

thanks for the advice, i didnt notice my belt being that high so ill try to keep it lower today. and the boots were just somethig quick i made out of rain boots for the con, im getting some better shoes later on.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

Have you attached the belt with a canvas strap? if so you should try permanently affixing it to a lower place. if im correct it is supposed to be low enough that you can see the ab plate buttons.

i couldnt get a canvas belt so soon so i made a temporary one out of a white tshirt.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

Oh well it's only temporary i'm guessing. When you get around to it pick up a canvas belt from the fisd. If im correct somebody should still be making them. It will be much easier to attach it then.
