so last week was my birthday and i got a stormtrooper armor kit! im not sure who made it or what type it is but i do know that its made of styrene so its not as good as an abs armor but im compleatly fine with it. im hoping to have it done for momo con next month so ill just be doing a simple all white paint scheme but ill end up doing it battle damaged later on. im also not going for a compleatly accurate armor either so please dont blast my noobness when you see the pics :lol
any advice would be greatly apreciated!

heres what i have so far:

The helmet you have pictured does not look like the helmet in the kit. Was the armor from eBay? It looks like a MOT kit.the helmet looks like a MRCE.

my parents bought the armor so it was most likley from ebay.
the helmets an efx that i replaced the mesh and the padding in.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

EFX used the same molds as MR so it is the same helmet. Your armor is a 3rd gen TE armor. The pulls look sharp.

I agree looking good so far , but trim those hand plates a little more. Also build the helmet that came with the kit . It looks way better than that bucket you're wearing. Other than that it's coming along nicely.

just so you know......if your doing ANH armor the shoulder straps are supposed to "float" in the back, they aren't glued to the back plate. But like sixxgun said check out FISD. They helped with mine a ton, and I got all my accesories for my armor there as well.

thanks for the advice, im using the shoulder straps to actually support the front and back armor peices. is that a bad thing? anyways, like i said before, im not going for compleatly accurate so ill probably leave them as is. and yeah, i still need to create an account over at FISD.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

The styrene can break if you use the armor straps as an actual support. Use some webbing or wide elastic to hold the chest and upper back plate together. Some use glue or snaps or velcro to attach the webbing.

The webbing or elastic will be essentially "hidden" under the styrene straps especially if you choose black. Depends on how accurate you want to be. The webbing will allow the armor to float and keep your styrene straps from breaking.

I would peruse all the build threads on the FISD before you go any further.

It looks like you are having fun. Keep us apprised on your progress.

Congrats on your kit. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Re: ANH stormtrooper armor WIP (lots of pics)

Your forearms will look HUGE if you don't trim the return edge on the wrist and elbow openings.

I know how it is when you first get a kit like this... you don't wan't to trim too much. And certain areas you shouldn't or at least CAN get away with not trimming the entire edge off to give it a thicker "armor" look.

But in the end you will be done and then see some HD pics and it will bug you how much edge you left on some parts.

You will then have to re cut and open certain parts and re cover strip them with a smaller opening if you catch my odd wording. (some things are just hard to explain in words)

Again go to FISD and if nothing else take a look at the TK HD gallery to see where to trim more.

Be prepared for some members here bein put off by the fact this is a 3rd gen recast. But sounds like your bases are covered if your parents really bought it for you. LOL!

thanks for the tips, ive already started trimming some of the parts a little more in places.
yeah i thought it might be a recast when i put it up on here but i dont really care at this point because it looks awesome and its a really fun build so far.
