ANH - Kenny Baker R2-D2 roller skates - Completed

Created these for my static 2 legged Kenny Baker ANH R2-D2 i have in the works.

These were A LOT more work than i hoped. they do roll but the ratchet mechanism at the rear is for show only, the ratchet handles were chopped and the internals gutted, replaced with 3d printed parts. It's the only way i could get them mounted firmy and more screen accurate.

The mounting blocks were hand cut and tapped. zinc yellow bolts and nuts. I swapped out the nuts for larger ones as it seem to be in line with the latest ref i had.

I still need to weather these before final fitment.......pretty sure not many of these around!

Yes, handles cut down and inserted into alu mounting blocks.
They could turn the knob and stop the direction of the feet on set. A simple but "effective" solution.

I doubt the roller skates worked very well on anything but glass smooth surfaces.

They didn't last long in the 3 star wars movies.
