After so many years trying to complete this Chewie Bowcaster prop for my personal collection, looking for parts, doing research, looking for collectors and members that offered and did some of the parts but other parts were missing and no clue where to get them, I have decided to go further and produce a CNC aluminum frame based on the Horton Safari Magnum. Thanks to Jawajawa827 (Timmy) who produced the rest of parts needed to complete my build and other members builds, I decided to 3D scan the Horton Safari Magnum crossbow and the same time I did the 3D Scan for The Force Awakens Bowcaster, which is here at the RPF in another interest thread. The crossbow frame, bow and trigger will be made of aluminum in a 3 Axis CNC machine. The spheres and rear clip for the sling/strap will be made of stainless steel, and I will also offer all the knobs and discs, some of them made of spincast pewter and other out of urethane resin and will come with all the accurate screws. An aluminum plate where the knobs and discs are attached will also be included and will be designed after the first aluminum frame is made. All these parts will come in kit unpainted. Jawajawa827 will do a parallel run for the remaining parts which will be the scope mount, the barrel with block, brackets and front sight, cleat and the coil wires that goes on the sides. I will put together a Bowcaster all assembled with all the parts attached painted and unpainted including Jawajawa827 parts for reference. Here are some pictures of the 3D CAD files and some of the parts. People interested please ad your names. I still don't have a price jet. One of my local machine shops in town will do these parts for me so it doesn't interfere with the other two projects that are being made in another machine shop.

Here is Jawajawa827 thread: Limited Run - Bowcaster Parts Run (Front Sight, Barrel Mount, Barrel Support/Hinge, Trigger Cover, Scope Mount, and More)

Thank you in advance,

Manny

Very cool project!

who is the owner of the original Horton you 3D scanned?
Hi, thank you, very happy to do this prop project. I am the original owner of the Horton Safari. Thank you to bring this to my attention and to other members to avoid misunderstandings. Is not a secret that there was another member that offered Horton Safari frames made out of reisin, many members bought his frame including me. My local machine shop removed all the plastic material from the rear stock and in the middle of my Horton, and I scanned. I am also including pictures of the aluminum bow. As a mater of fact the aluminum trigger assembly I created I made it to work on that resin Bowcaster frame, which is based on the original Horton trigger that came with my Horton Safari. This is a prop project I was working for the past 5 years for my personal collection. Thanks to Jawajawa827 (Timmy) I was able to complete the project but I wanted to go farther and since I made the EE-3 Boba Fett Blasters of aluminum I decided to do the same for myself and offer them to the fan community since Tim did the same. I am glad you like it.

thanks for clarification.
Modding a Safari can give you very good results. @gluejunky modified his frame with a ton of reference pictures and measurements of my real Magnum, but it still is just „close“

the template you used for the prod seems to be a copy of the tracing of my real one I provided to Jerry for his run…not sure how it ended in your hands, IF that‘s mine!?

Hi, you are welcome. Yes, is a lot of work, and I was very aware of how hard gluejunky worked on his frame. Me like a lot of people bought it from him, but before he did his me and other fans bought the Horton crossbow. I am also very very aware that this is a prop that very few people own and very little information is given or been willing to share. @gluejunky like 4 or 5 years ago asked me to help him out with the prod since I previously made a few CNC aluminum runs for Vader props and I was already started to work on my all CNC aluminum EE-3 Boba Fett Blasters run. He wanted me to produce the prod, I made a few, mailed him one but he was not quite happy how it came out. Then he mailed me that tracing you see on the work bench at the machine shop, I made a few but still wasn't perfect so he decided not to have them made with me. In the pictures you can see the prod we made, which I later I added two aluminum circles welded to each each of the prod to attach the stainless steel spheres. I was not aware that that tracing was yours, if it ended in my hands as you said was because was given to me by him, I actually never got paid a dime for all the material and time I spent doing those samples for him, I only did it to help gluejunky if that was going to help me get my Bowcaster prop finished, but it didn't happen until recently that Jawajawa827 offered the rest of the parts that were were waiting for gluejunky to finish, but he was not able to do it. I also was told by him that the original screen used Horton crossbow used in the film is actually a little longer than the Horton I have. I have received several pictures from other fans that wanted to finish their Bowcaster of other ANH Bowcasters builds and also reference pictures of the original prop. The Barnett Commando Crossbow which I also have to use for reference for The Force Awakens Bowcaster run, its prod is very similar in terms of the curvatures on both ends. I have to thanks several collectors to help me out with this project.
