Ok, Ive just started on building angelina jolies gun from the movie "Wanted". It is a custom Safari Arms Matchmaker 1911. It has a compensator, extended clip, custom grip, and engravings. Here is a picture of it:

Im going to make it off of a $10 1911 from walmart. Heres a picture of it:

Ill start by cutting off part of the barrel, because the barrel on the airsoft gun is huge. Then ill take a small bit of pvc and cut holes in it for the compensator. Past that, Im really not sure, but ill add more pictures as i move along in the project.

Nice project! I'm a 1911 fan and love seeing ornate 1911's like this one. How are you going to tackle the engravings? For my Sucker Punch 1911 I printed up some decals, came out pretty well and cheap to boot! I'll be looking forward to this build.

Yeah, ill probably print off the picture i have at the top of this thread and use it as a decal. just cut off the barrel, heres a pic:

can't work on the project until tomorrow when i get my uncles scroll saw to work on the compensator

Not a bad idea, and not a bad idea for the base. Not your standard 1911 trigger, which will work perfect for the Para-Ordnance Nite-Tacs I'm trying to replicate!

Blimey, that looks like a lot of work. By posting the two photos side by side, you can just see *how* modified the 1911 was. Looks like only the sights are the same shape!

Good luck with it, it'll be a great artisan piece.

Thanks! I thought that I need to post pictures of the other side of the gun, so here you go:

Just an FYI before you plunk down $30 or more for real 1911 grips, they are too big for these walmart airsoft guns. I bought a pair of these to turn into Comedian pistols, and quickly aborted the project and just painted them black and weathered them up once I got into the build.

Also, real grips are made to fit onto screw bushings that are set into, and out from the guns frame. The toy just has a few holes the plastic grips click into, and these holes don't line up with the holes in a real 1911 grip.

You can always mod the gun, drill new holes, etc, and use longer grip screws, but you may break the plastic, and will likely have to screw right into that thin magazine. Which, creating an extended mag like she had for wanted will basically require you to build a static gun.

The hammer doesn't work on these anyway, so maybe that's not a big deal. Are you planning to modify the trigger?

You may want to just mod the plastic grips it comes with using putty, then you can always try and engrave the scrimshaw grips. Which, I'm pretty sure the grips on the hero gun are scrimshaw (made from teeth or bone).

The base gun wasn't a stock 1911, it was a safari arms gun. They looks like this:

STILL, somebody did a lot of custom work on her. It's one of my favorite movie guns.

Thanks for the tip on the grips Noeland. I just finished the compensator and am working on the extended magazine

Heres a picture of the gun with the finished compensator on it. I made it out of pvc. I know the picture is bad, and that the compensator is a little crooked. Fortunately, i fixed that problem. If you look closely, you can also see that i filed away the end of the magazine sticking out the side.

Just thought it worth mentioning, I bought some $25 grips and ended up putting them on my real 1911, they're just a lot nicer than the airsoft guns. :)

The compensator looks good. Hope the rest of the build goes smoothly for you too. I look forward to more pictures!

Heres a picture of the gun with the "extended-magazine" part attached. I made it out of wood and cut it with a scroll saw, and then hot-glued it to the bottom of the regular magazine.

Finished painting the gun (except for decals). heres some pictures: oh, and the grip is the original grip that came with the gun, i just filed down the texture (you dont want to know how long that took) and painted it

The Safari Arms 1911 is still being offer by OlyArms in Washington State. I have a Caspian Arms frame that looks just like this..But it far better quality was...I was going to make a replica out of it but I have something else in mind
