Angelina Jolie's gun from "Wanted" WIP

i'd invest in a dremel tool and make grooves instead of hand painting the flat surfaces. also, you could have added clay or wood putty to the grips to fill in the checkers instead of sanding it down. also, filling in the wording on the slide would have been a better option pre paint. the compensator vents need to be rounded at the bottoms and there should be an extra round hole near the very front middle of the compensator. i also think more time could have been spent smoothing the finger spike and the squared end of the trigger guard. as a solo first try, i'd say its pretty good, but i'd take all the comments here and attempt a new one man. the tips would make it look ten times better.

EDIT: I'd also shorten the compensator. try measuring the gun you have from front to back of the slide, and then scaling a picture of the gun to that size. this will give you the ability to judge the lengths and widths of the ornamental markings and compensator as well as the placement of the vents. And as a side side note, the grip could be painted in an offwhite color for the ivory imitation as opposed to keeping it brown.

First off, i do have a dremal tool, but it is a cordless one and the charge doesn't last long. I am not finished yet though, and will still add the front sight of the gun and will make the finger spike look smoother. When i made the compensator, i realized that i made the notches in it go too far down, so i didn't add the extra hole. Ill try to use my dremal to make the compensator notches rounded.

I am. The base you used is still way closer than that airsoft above.

The back part is close, but the grip needs work and of course the front part is not close, but its possible to make a good looking Wanted gun from it... After all, its still a cool, useful gun for this price...

And I think it works to modify it...

There's alot more wrong with it than right, you can get 1911-style guns all day long for next to nothing. Espically the walmart airsoft guns like the one OP got.
Easy to find, and cheap so you don't have to worry about tearing a couple up.

Sorry guys, havent worked on this project in about a week, but im getting spot putty today.

This style of 45acp has a single piece plastic grip/frame that takes a double stack magazine. It's very different that the 1911A1 style single stack magazine & frame used in the Safari Arms gun. You can't remove and replace the grips in the same way at all. It may look close from the side, but if you were holding both guns, you'd see the difference, which are pretty big.

im getting spot putty today.

Good luck kiddo, hope the materials work well for you! Look forward to the results. I won't be able to work on mine for a few months now as we're moving again.

Looking great man. I love this. Working with what you have and having fun doing it. It's that kind of spirit that makes this hobby fun!
Keep it coming brutha!

Thanks man! final paint (hopefully, unless anybody has any suggestions) still drying, will post pictures in probably an hour.

Heres some pictures of the almost finished product. I still need to make the front sight, but other than that, its done! I dont think that i did a very good job on the spot putty, I have never used it before and dont think that i put enough on. (oh, and i apologize for the bad-quality and glary pictures)

the finger groove looks a lot better, but there's still more work to be done. Out of curiosity how many times did you sand, reapply, sand, reapply, sand, etc on the frame? Spot putty works awesome given you take the time and sand it smooth. Try applying it in a manner that doesn't give off airbubbles (easier said than done, I know).

Overall though i'm really impressed with how this gun is turning out. Paint job doesn't look too bad, but the scribe work is really throwing it off.
Looking forward to seeing more progress, it really is turning out a lot better than I expected.

ummm...hehe..im kinda lazy, so i only did one layer of spot putty :eek
I probably shoould do more, but im going to finish the front sight and then see how much more time I want to put into this project. Yeah the scribe work does look pretty bad, but the surface was too rough to add decals anyway. I though the scribe work on the handles looks pretty good though.
