Ancient Warchief Suit [W.I.P]

After seeing some of the amazing costumes on the site i have decided i NEED to build my own suit
its going to be an ancient pred with bits of chainmail as armour and stuff like that (i'll go into further detail as the project progresses )

i'll be starting with the head.

wish me luck....


my bio just arrived today ^_^
its a blank P1 and its awesome
(same size as a mysteria i believe)

cant wait to get painting and customising

its my first bio and first project of this nature so i'll most likely be bothering you lot for advice in the next few days
so i apologise in advance.

i'll have pics of the transformation as it happens
so you can give me pointers/laugh at my terrible handiwork

yeah i'd heard nothing but good things about Dons products
so i thought id go to him to get the stuff i needed

I bought a dremel tool last week, cut out the eyes and smoothed all the edges on the bio.
im thinking of going for an elder sort of look with predator "runes" carved into the bio but with a lot of battle scarring.

got some mesh from an old broken CD player that i'll be putting behind the mesh that i bought from dons place
(still seethrough but hides my eyes better than a single layer of mesh without the need for welding lenses or w/e)

I got some black primer (spray can) and gonna buy gun metal coloured spray paint in the next few days.

also ordered the rubies mask from ebay which i'll be converting (decided it was the best option for now even though i hardly have the time to convert it :/)
gonna get some backer rod to use as dreads in the next couple days.

and i bought 3 3v lasers from ebay just now.

i'll have more pics up when i start piecing everything together

thanks :] heres a few new pics
cut ridges into the "halo" (theyre a bit uneven at the moment but i'll sort it out later ) and carved some glyphs into the right "eyebrow", the laser part and right side of the halo.
and put some battle scars down the left side
and added the alien trophy scar on the right cheek.
also put on a few other bits and bobs to make it look a bit more tribal-ish.

(the black spots are places that ive had to fill because there were bubbles)

im still waiting for my lasers to arrive and i ordered a pack of 3 laser shrouds from Don's place
(i decided to go with lasers rather than the L.E.D's)
once they arrive and ive fitted them i'll be painting it up
so i'll keep you posted .

theres been a slight setback though.

the childs rubies mask that i ordered arrived today and it isnt a full head mask
therefore useless

waste of time and money

*enraged*


on a happier note:
my lasers also arrived today which sort of makes up for it
and ive just ordered the full head rubies mask.

yeah
LEDs look fine but they just dont cut it with me so i went for the lasers
im trying to work out a way of interchanging them as i dare say lasers will be frowned upon in some places (hoping to use my bio in a costume eventually)

yeah ive had my dog literally running up the walls with a laser pointer
also wondering what she'll make of me in the mask
she goes nuts when she sees people wearing things like motorbike helmets etc haha

UPDATE:
my 3 laser shrouds from Don's place just arrived today (excellent service as always i might add)
and i bought a 9v battery clip with switch and the resistor I needed
so the laser wiring commences tonight
and I'll fit the shroud and begin painting the bio tomorrow

the rubies mask i ordered was also mailed today so i should have it in 1-2 business days.

great! bet your working away at it right now!! No luck on the backer rod substitute yet! I'll let you know as soon as it gets here, then I'll try some acrylic & latex on a piece and post pics!
