yeah
LEDs look fine but they just dont cut it with me so i went for the lasers
im trying to work out a way of interchanging them as i dare say lasers will be frowned upon in some places (hoping to use my bio in a costume eventually)

yeah ive had my dog literally running up the walls with a laser pointer
also wondering what she'll make of me in the mask
she goes nuts when she sees people wearing things like motorbike helmets etc haha

and as for your lasers bro as long as you have a swich or wireless remote you should be cool to troop with because if say some one wants you to turn them off you can and than turn on when your able to again you know

its best when i shine it right on the end of my dogs nose
she freezes for a min then tries to snap at it lol.

its cool now.
i attempted to find a way to change between LEDs and lasers and failed miserably (everything looked really ugly lol) so im just goin for the lasers
i got a battery box with a built in switch so its all good.
finished wiring them up tonight and they're working great

starting on the paint for the bio as soon as i get up 2moro
(its my day off uni so that could be the afternoon sometime hehe)

update:

about halfway there with the paint job. just need to add the weathering

my rubies mask arrived and its too big to use as an undermask

im really starting to regret getting the mysteria sized bio
its making things really difficult :/

might scrap this one and buy a full size bio :/

if anyone knows of a way to add the dreads to a bio without the use of a latex undermask
(using a bicycle hemet or something?) PLEASE let me know
i really need a boost for this project lol

ok so i just got home from a 10 day road trip
my latex dreads arrived while i was away so im happy
just gotta find a way to wear them under my bio without an undermask :/

ive also almost finished the paint on my bio so i'll get some pics up when its done tomorrow.

also does anyone know how this was done? (the bicycle helmet/dreads part)

ok so the bio itself is finished
so heres a few *cough* pics for you guys

closeup of the eye mesh

my lasers ^_^

inside the mask

i added a plate to the bottom of the mask to so you couldnt see inside
then sort of painted it like pred skin :s
(it looks crappy on the pics but it'll do an ok job when the dreads are on)

my latex dreads there are 2 layers
(the red tape is there to keep the various sizes in separate sections)
i'll be attatching them to a hat (ironically the kind of hat that covers human dreadlocks)
which i will then attach to the bio
then i'll make some sort of chin strap to keep it all on
anyway i'll leave it up to your judgement :]
i'll be happy to answer any questions about the mask
p.s
does anyone have any advice on how to arrange the dreads?
ive just put the longest at the back then going to shortest as they get near the face of the bio.
is this right?

im working on the dreadlocks right now
i used sail making thread to stitch them into rows and im now working on stitching each row onto the cap im using

ive lost count of the times ive jabbed/cut myself lol
i'll post my progress 2moro

ive also chosen a name for my bio
but i wont be revealing it til its completely done

bio looks great bro and have you tried outsourceing for a half undermask to fit your bio that would be a way cleaner and much more presenting approach than a rastafarian hat LOL

plus you wont have to worry about hating the fact you attached your very expensive dreads on something that your going to pull right off when you dont like it

well the dread hat is just a temporary thing thankfully
also i ditched the rasta hat as it didnt look how i imagined.
so i went with the baseball cap idea that shockwolf used and did my best to refine it
(ive tested it and you cant actually see the cap or the thick ends of the dreads at all so it doesnt look bad at all)
the hat will be fixed into the bio with velcro
and the dreads are only held on with one stitch of uber strong thread
so when/if i manage to get an undermask it will only be one little snip for each dread hehe
and no damage to the dreads or bio at all.

ive heard that the pirk elder would possibly fit my bio but im running low on funds right now and id have to get it ready painted as i dont have any equipment
or the skill to paint it either lol
so i daresay it would be fairly expensive

progress update :]

got the dreads attached

gonna be making rings in the next few days hopefully
then i'll make the air tube and wires for the side of the mask.

and im making a base/stand for the mask

i used a chunk of cylindrical metal that i found in my yard to add weight to the base
sprayed it black then painted pred symbols on it
then cut a hole through a skull pile candle holder i had and glued it to the metal base

i'll eventually attach some sort of pole into the hole in the base then attach a dummy head or something similar to the top of the pole.

ok so my bio and stand are 99% finished
(all thats left to do is get some sort of head to go on top of the stand/inside the mask so that the dreads sit normally because they droop too much as you can see in the pics)
so im gonna say this little part of the project is done.
im pretty pleased with it since its my first attempt at costume construction.

i used leather/suede lace to wrap some of the thicker dreads
the dread rings are just different sized copper and brass rings used for plumbing
i attached a bone necklace to the Right side as decoration
and i made a mini string of trophies from a spare bit of leather lace, a spent rifle round, one of my own teeth (a souvenier from a past trip to the dentist hehe), some fox teeth and a rodent skull. which i hung amongst the dreads on the left side.

got an update

just got this badboy from a guy called Steve Arnold ( eBay store )

its a really nice mask, pretty cheap and the paintup is great

i really like the unique look of it (helps to tell eachother apart hehe)
the only thing about it that im not keen on is the fact that the tusks are latex so i'll replace those with resin ones.

unfortunately my bio mask is too small for the mask but im gonna order a larger one and do the same design and paint on it.
ive also ordered a set of dreads and beads from bambooie
they should be here in a few weeks so i'll keep you posted on the next phase of my suit

ok so just after i bought the new pred head i got the opportunity to buy a head that better suited my ideas for my costume.
so i'm selling the other head with a set of dreads.

heres my new pride and joy ^_^

the guy i got it from told me it was made by suckface studios
so if this is indeed your work suckface
i salute you

also joe (bambooie) emailed me a few days back to tell me that my dreads and beads are on their way to me and should arrive around the 17th of june
so i'll be replacing the latex dreads on the new pred head with bambooies high quality ones

and since my mysteria sized bio wont fit on my mask im going to be purchasing one of hez' P1 bios and doing the same design and paintup on it
*despairs at having to redo the lasers*
