Cut to fit. Like cutting the top off of a tank turret.

Got it. For me it depends on the part. If it's small I use my x-acto and emery boards if it's a big part I use my Dremel and then x-acto and emery boards.

In Post 246, rectangular part bottom left is 1/35 Nichimo Centurion, as well as the round hatch on the Tiger turret and the two rectangular pieces on the Jagdtiger deck.
