AMT has reissued the 1/25 scale semi van trailer

Round 2 AMT has reissued a couple of their old semi trailers this month. The first is the Texaco tanker trailer, but the second one is the classic dry goods van trailer. This should be perfect for those of you looking to build such studio scale model replicas, such as the Colonial Movers freighter from BSG, or Bomb #20 from Dark Star (although that may have been a reefer trailer). My LHS got a couple in stock this week.

They used a weird scale, if you ask me:

Look for the "TNT" Exterior Post Van... in 1/43 scale!

That is what was used on the Colonial Movers model. 5 AMT 1/43 Exterior Post
Vans, and one 1/43 Reefer Van. Also the AMT 1/25 Peterbilt Wrecker and 1/25 GMC Astro and the White Road Boss.

This would also be good if anyone wants to make a trailer for a larger Optimus Prime figure but doesn't want to dish out the 150+ for the fancy one.

Actually, hate to nitpick, but you need 6 post vans AND the reefer van. The sixth post has the sides cut up to replace the doors of all the trailers. And the little bastards aint cheap anymore.

Ick 1/43?! Sounds like somebody at ILM Apogee had a few of those little monsters stockpiled when the need to build ships for Galactica came up as they are certainly not what I would call mainstream model pieces. But anything can work as greeblies I suppose.

Well, at least the White Road Boss is back out (and in stock at LHSes now). I suppose a Bomb #20 from Dark Star would be a better use for one of the 1/25 trailer kits then, unless the reefer works better.

Of course, if I had 12 Viper MkIIs in the proper size, then it might be interesting to do a diorama from "Hand of God" where the Colonial Freighter ditches one of its containers, revealing a Viper attack force ready and waiting to launch. Of course it wouldn't exactly be studio scale since it was all CGI, but I imagine a few of you guys have had similar ideas. ;) It might make a nice "what if nu BSG used model shots" moment.
