Amazing Spiderman Zentai Suit and Raimi Suit -- Feet finished pg. 4

Re: Amazing Spiderman Zentai Suit - Raimi Suit Added!

Finally finished with the feet. Very happy with how they turned out. They certainly don't feel like they'll be falling apart any time soon :) Took a few more pics of the suit too. I think my next mod will be completing the webbing on the neck of the suit so it isn't just plain fabric.

looks great for how little you have to spend on it. shoes look good too, does your heel move about at all or is the lycra/spandex pretty much holding it in place?

ill definatly get some pics of mine up once its done. I got my aqua shoes cut up ready, my suit fits pretty well (pleased) I went with the raimi suit as i still prefer the look of that one over the new tasm suit...prefer the tasm movie but imo the old suit looks better. Plus the lines of the raimi suit give quite a opitcal 'slimming' effect ^^ ive only got a tiny bit of a tummy left but its hardly noticable with the suit on.

im going to probably try glue the shoes on all at once and re-touch them up around the toes/heel after the initial main areas of contact have set

looks good! I wish wish I could wear suits like that, but I've got this whole...fat thing lol
lol, if it makes you feel better, I busted my ass this year to lose weight and get in better shape. Since the beginning of the year, I've lost almost 30 pounds and I'm happy to be able to wear a spider suit finally. He's always been my favorite hero.

That looks really good. Because it's not the exact same movie quality suit, your shows probably shouldn't look like the dirt dogs everyone's been putting on their TASM suits.

I agree the neck have the black webbing. Puff painting it would give it a good texture, but you'd have to find a way to make it work with this zentai suit idea. Regardless, it looks great. Nice job!

Yeah, I'll definitely be adding the webbing to the neck. I ordered a spare suit, so maybe I'll get ambitious with one of them and consider doing some puff painting and other stuff.

No, my foot doesn't move around in the shoe at all. Very well fit to my feet. I definitely recommend just doing the bottom of the shoe first, with your foot as far forward (or back) as it can go. Then do the back and front separately after it has set and dried. There's no way to keep even pressure on all areas of glue contact, so those sections would likely have to be redone anyway. Doing a little bit at a time keeps it cleaner.

I disagree about the Raimi suit having more of a slimming effect. I think the ASM suit does a much better job at that, but to each his own ;)

wow, congratulations! I've only lately started working out to lose weight, but because of some health issues and a very bad back I can't push myself as much as I'd like. but maybe this time next year I'll have lost enough weight to wear one for Halloween or a con or something. again, congrats on the weight loss and the work on the suit thus far :)

Thank you very much :) If I can give you some pointers that might help you, these things did most of the work:

-SALADS! LOTS OF SALADS. I know this can get boring, but just change up the ingredients. I am partial to salmon and chicken, and different veggies added in. I replace 1-2 meals a day with salads and that did wonders to cut down my fat intake. If I was still hungry after my lunch, I'd grab a couple fruits to finish the job.

-Weight lifting -- doesn't have to be a lot. I was trying to bulk up a little, but just making sure to hit most of the different areas of your muscle groups burns fat well.

-Run and bike -- I tried biking or running for roughly 15-20 almost every day.

The majority of my weight loss took place over 3 months in summer. I got a membership at Anytime Fitness and worked out before or after work. Makes it easier to keep up with it. It's hard to get into the routine, but once you start, you feel great.

thanks! I try to do a little bit of weight lifting, but it's hard for me to stay motivated to keep it up. I know, you think losing weight would be enough motivation, right? lol but I've been biking a lot. it's something I used to do and loved. so doing that doesn't seem like exercise to me. but I'm working at it! thanks again for the helpful advice :)

No problem, good luck!

i guess it depends on your build, ive got relatively wide shoulders/upper back and it seems to work well with the suit. I think they both give a slimming effect judging by the pics. Hm well my plan was to just stand in to the shoes with glue in place, because as per trying on shoes, the natural way for your foot to fit in to a shoe is when you are stood up as it pushes your heel in more. But yeah ill likely have to touch up bits afterwards. and do the fabric around the toes/heel. Just hoping shoe goo works ok.

That's true. Yeah, my foot naturally sits back in the heel, so I had to try to push them further to secure the toe area, and that still didn't work as well immediately. I'm sure it will work fine, I used something called E-600, but any industrial strength fabric glue should do.

Not to hijack the thread, but I wanted to know how this compares to the Zentai suit.
Adult Realistic Spiderman Costume - Spider-Man Authentic Costumes

It's noticeably more expensive but I'm not sure if it's a better purchase.

Not good at all. Design wise it's pretty decent, but the quality of the sewing is crap. The stitching falls apart so easily it's ridiculous. If it were half the price or less, I'd reconsider, but the zentais are at least strong and durable. If you can find a zentai that actually looks close to the real thing, do it. The only thing to watch out for with the zentais is that they sometimes look nothing like the picture.

had a bit of a failed attempt....not good. how long were you stood in yours for befor you attempted to take the suit off?

i think i didn't stand long enough. Used shoe goo, the front area seems to of stuck fine but as i was pulling my heel out it peeled up and even some of the aqua shoes inner sole had sort of attached to it (to the zentai but come away from the sole :s ) front bits fine but not to sure whats going on. Other people have mentioned using shoe goo for it without mentioning anything about it disolving anything.....so tad concerned. letting it set over night and goign to try re glue tomorrow and stand in them for longer this time. I think i just tried to hop out too soon.

To be safe, I kept mine on for a few hours actually. I rubber banded them too so I didn't have to worry about the shoes falling off if I moved. The glue dissolved something? That doesn't seem normal :/ what exactly did it dissolve? Did you wrap your feet in plastic wrap when you did it so they didn't stick.

yeah wrapped my feet. It was like part of the inner sole of the aqua shoe had come away with the heel. the toe/front end is stuck fairly solid but as i peeled my heel out it lifted up bringing some of the inner sole with it, just like a layer of the inner sole, the majority of the inner sole is still in place :s i think it'll be ok though just going to reglue it later and give it more time. I didn't give it enough time to fully set. Going to masking tape my foot in plae and give it a good 4 hours or so

That doesn't necessarily mean it dissolved anything. Perhaps the sole was never very well connected to the outer sole. Did you actually see anything melted? Yeah, tape should work too, though rubber bands would be easier and reusable.

no the inner sole is still attached fine, it was like a "layer" of the inner sole, like the fabric on the very top surfae, came away, it maybe didnt disolve but i think it got weaker but would likely of reset once the glue had dried more if id given it more time. Trying again in a few mins with masking tape and a 5 hour time before i have to take the suit off

ok im starting to lose blood circulation in my feet....but this aint coming off for another 3 hours atleast :|

lol how tight did you tape it? It shouldn't be painfully tight!

yeah um petty damn tight ^.^ got frustrated that it went wrong the first time so taking no risks this time. It's not moving anywhere. I think i can still feel my feet...just :p giving it another 2 hours then untaping and trying to slide out as gently as possible and stuff it with socks/something to push up against the side maybe some old tshirts

ohh, i did also glue EVERYTHING, so all the toe fabric area and heel/upper heel fabric and its all taped down in place. The bit of the foot that actually did stick the first time is set pretty solid, so i reckon this should definatly work
