Yes, well I'm just blown away but your dedication to improving a prop helmet. My hat goes off to you, sir. You have definitely set the bar high on this one. I can't wait to see the finished items. And as for cost, I would say that they would be expensive due to the fact that there is a lot of labour / man hours involved in the preperation and casting. Would I be Correct? Still it would be nice to own one.

I loved this creation, what an experience to watch, particularly the jerks who cried recast so loudly! They haven't had the common decency to apologize for jumping to conclusions and basically calling alienbuilder a thief and a counterfeiter. They cried loudly for this thread to be closed, perhaps there should be repercussions for village idiots lighting the torches before they have all the facts? I was really turned off by that lack of community and support.

Thank you all again for your words. Unfortunately there is a setback with the free helmet so there are no more photos yet. the color I used and especially the filler was a product I ve never used and it won't get really hard just as I want it. well, thats a long story, but the fait now is: I ve sandblasted all the color away and am one step past again. so I ll have to polish some little parts again tomorrow and than paint again with a car paint I already used and which is good, but a little bit harder to get. So, never use unknown products on something u like
I think I should finish painting the free helmet next week than. The good news are, my friend will hopefully paint the other helmets next weekend. and he is pretty good in painting.
well the costs are not so less, nick k, thats right. I will have spend nearly 2000 dollar when everything is finished, I think so. Just the color is 300 and materials like aluminum are also not cheap. well, I was able to use the foundry, but a commercial foundry, the cast itself would cost maybe 1000 bucks EACH helmet. so, for me the costs are ok. At the moment I won't sell these helmets. Its just a dream for me that came true. maybe I ll decide to give the free helmet away, because its the one, I like less in the movies. But the decision will be hard, because It could be the one I ve put in the most work and the only one, where the aluminum is seen. If I would decide to sell this one, it should be 1000 bucks maybe… but I don't know yet.

no good possibility to do that but would be nice. well, I already have the colors for the 501 and the shock trooper, and as I said, a friend of mine worked long time as painter for motorcycle helmets and he ll do the job so it should be in good hands. But I ll do the free helmet myself and using powder coat for it won't be necessary for me, because this one should have a used look, so I ll remove the paint partially like seen in the movies.

forgive my ignorance but what did you "fill" the pot marks and such with? ive read the thread and checked all the photo's and I don't see anything even close to bondo or fiberglass filler. did you use something like J.B. weld or some sort of aluminum type putty?? looks great so far!!!! :thumbsup

hallo funboy1013xx, everywhere I could not weld or where it dosnt make sense, I used a normal filler for car repair. It s a polyester filler with aluminum dust in it. that works fine, but there were not much to fill up with these.
toxx, jo da hab ich drauf geachtet, war allerdings tatsächlich auch nicht der fall, da es vom lack keinen extra filler gibt. vermute aber nicht das es daran lag, da der filler generell nicht so fest wird, dass man nicht mit genug kraft und einem harten Gegenstand leicht einritzen könnte. habe mir jetzt filler lack und Grundierung von auto k besorgt. damit hab ich bislang immer sehr gute Erfahrungen gemacht und auch schon einiges an Alu Lackiert. leider ist der shop wo ochs sonst immer gekauft hab letztes Jahr abgebrannt daher der dämliche versuch mich mal umzuorientieren, hätte ich mir aber auch gleich denken können. jetzt sollte aber alles funktionieren.

für die weissen Helme nutze ich auch mipa. 2 Komponenten ist eben auch etwas besser. für den gree Helm nutze ich auto k Farben füller und Grundierung, da ich damit schon recht gute Erfahrung gemacht habe auf Alu gründen und ich den Helm selber lackiere. bei dem soll der lack dann ja auch an manchen stellen abplatzen. die Farben hierfür sind heute angekommen, sodass ich morgen wieder mit lackieren loslegen kann. freue mich schon vor allem aufs grün. die anderen Helme macht dann der Fachmann, der auch Lackierer gelernt hat im 2 schichtverfahren. mit Klarlack wird das dann auch schön homogen, wie bei den MRs. bin gespannt wies wird.

just a little update: I m now at the last point with the free helmet again, tomorrow I ll do the gray areas and I should finish this one at the end of next week. the new paint is much better and finally works. the other 2 helmets are filled today too, so tomorrow there is sanding the whole day and painting on sunday. looks well so far.

I ve painted the gray areas today so its going on now again. tomorrow the camouflage will be added. everything looks good right until now. just ripped of the masking tape from the
mouth piece before going home.

Yes bookface, I think free is the most complex clone depending on the color scheme. so many different parts to do. but the worst things are done now. I ve made all the green stuff today, so tomorrow there are just the gray parts to do and the white mohawk. and tuesday aloe the black parts and the stripes of the tubes, than its done. well I ll have to weather it too than of course. so here are some pictures of masking and the carmo paint. I m exiting what it will look like without the masking. especially the damages. we will see tomorrow.
I ll add some brown dirty tones to the green while weathering too. I m not sure if its faint or dirt, or rust in the movie.
