Aluminum cast Clone Trooper Helmet

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

Thank you again for the kind words, auch danke nach hh.

today I started to polish a little bit and the dome is already finished. I m not shure u can see it good at the photos. as I said the aluminum we use is not so good for polishing and I also decided to not polish it absolutely to the end because I think this way its more scene accurate. I really like the dome pretty much though. Cant wait to paint/ wether that piece. I hope to finish the face and the mouth piece tomorrow so I can start painting. I don't know when my friend s coming back here to do the paint job for the other helmets. he wanted to arrive today but maybe didn't, so I ll work on the free now first.

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

thank you too, snowman.
well, I'm not really a fan of battle star galactica. but I have to admit, they are a little bit more masculine than c3po and his friends though:)

today I finished the polished parts. looks nice to me. tomorrow I ll polish everything again a little bit and than wash everything off so I can start painting at tuesday.

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

There are no words to describe how awesome this is! A helmet build like no other. You must be very pleased with the result of all your hard work. I know I am :)

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

This is some very impressive work man... well done.

It's gotten me thinking about doing something similar since I have a lot of scrap 2000 series duraluminum collected from my SHIELD light-up emblem run that I need to do something with. No worries though, it won't be a clone trooper helmet... possibly Iron Man or some BSG Cylon. I'll figure it out when I'm done with my current run.

Keep up the great work... can't wait to see it done.

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

I'm not sure if it will polish any better than whatever it is you've used, but I have had great results from a polish called Simichrome. Your helmet build is fantastic!

This work and these pictures I don't understand the CS of the German Garrison.
You can only shake your head. :facepalm

Wirklich tolle Arbeit bisher. TOP

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

I just ran across this thread and I have to say that this is one hell of a project. Awesome work here, those helmets are amazing. Thank you for sharing pictures of the process, not only was it was very educational, but it was very interesting as well.

Looking good! I think that's a good level of polish, obviously metal and shiny without being chrome-y.

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

I think all the superlatives have already been used in this thread, but I'll just add my thanks for letting us watch this piece of artwork come to life. You've done an amazing job!

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

Wait... This doesn't meet 501st standards?????

That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard!

These are the most "real" clone trooper helmets ever made IMHO.

In the movies they weren't even plastic for gods sake!!!

I still think its a shame to paint them all...

They are total works of arts as they are!

Again a commander gree with the metal parts showing through... Would be SWEET.

These things almost make me want to actually buy the PT on BR... ALMOST!!!

Soo awesome.

It meets the 501st standards, of course.
Our CS has sometimes strange opinions about threads in our public forum. It doesn't matter.

The alu clone helmet is here (RPF) in good hands. ;)

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

This is incredible! Really interesting to see the process which goes into something like this.

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

That was a very positive comment to make, kudos to you for that! Some people indeed cannot wait to shout recast.

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

Hallo all of you. one more time I have to thank you for the comments you left, doing this tread always pushing me to more motivation, even the last month was just horrible work of sanding the metal. thank you for that and I m very happy, you like what I m doing.
I ve started painting the free helmet today, just primer and filler though, than sanding everything again and than just the black for the mictips, the earholes and the little piece at the back of the head. tomorrow I ll make pictures again even if the paint job might be pretty similar to others. hope to make the white gray and maybe the green parts tomorrow. on saturday the painting should be finished so I can star making the padding. good night

Re: Aluminium cast Clone Trooper Helmet

hallo again, so here are some pictures of the painting process:

the contrast of the color and the aluminum works already fine. I also figured out a small withe part at the mouth. the free helmet have some fine lines in the metal there so it looks like a separate part there. Its really hard to see in the movie or other reference pics, but thats the solution I made...

thats it for today. a problem now is, that the white color is not getting absolutely hard. maybe it depends on the massive layers of filler under it. hopefully its hard tomorrow. the black works absolutely good and all colors are the same brand though. I ll know more tomorrow than but I first wanted to do the gray layer for the tubes today too.
