"Allo" Worm from the Labyrinth

Here's the one I sent out to my client today with it's glittery Labyrinth wall brick base.

Hopefully he will post some photos after he attaches the hair. It'll be a while before I finish mine. I have many commissions to catch up on before I have time to add the glass eyes, resculpt the lids, and add the hair.

OK guys, I just received my eyes from Van Dykes and they look GREAT!
I ordered a couple of different sizes since I didn't know which one would work the best, but one works perfectly!

Here's the link for them:

They're dirt cheap and the company has no minimum order. This is perfect for those who want to try these on their worm.

By the way, the smaller iris works pretty good, but the larger ones makes him much cuter:

Weird we can use pheasant eyes on a worm :D

Looking great!

In the webshop the eyes looked a bit too hazel for me, but they seem to be a bit more red in person.

Would have been better, if we waited for your vyndyke eyes to arrive, before I placed the order for the expensive eyes from my german retailer :unsure Hey...told you guys, right :)

Looking at your pic of the cut off face...I see a close resemblance to the main monster from the 80´s flick "Invasion from Mars" (this worm/ tongue like creature, y´know?) :lol

Those are nice budget eyes, but I gotta say that I much prefer the subtle blend from yellow to red on your eyes OdiWan - looks more natural.

I'm just worried I'm gonna completely mess the little guy up hollowing out his head!

Odiwan the eyes you got looks really good and well worth it considering the quality and where it's shipping from.
These eyes from Van Dykes is just another option for folks.

greatwazoo42 - I'll be making some finished sets in the next couple of weeks, so just check in on the FS thread for them.

howlrunner - I don't know which method you're going with, but let me know if I can help walk you through the steps I did.

Think I'll be trying to slice the face off (VERY carefully!) and hollow out from the inside like you've done. Will be using my dremel though so will be sweating! :lol Looks more practical than hollowing out the entire head, and less destructive than hollowing out the eyes from the front (destroying the eyelids and having to resculpt them).

Got perfect hair that matches the colour of what's seen on screen exactly, so I'm itching to get at it.... :)

Personally, I'm just grinding out the eyes from the front and the resculpting the lids. I want them to be open just a hair wider anyway.

Well I WAS going to slice off the face, but when I took my dremel with a rotary cutting head to it I decided I was far too likely to completely screw it up. So instead I sliced the little guys head off.

Then I used a drill bit and started from the eye and drilled through to and out of the head "stump". I then hollowed the head and eyes out using using a dremel piece and a hobby knife.

The head-to-neck join will have to be smoothed and filled with a little super glue gel once the eyes are installed, but it's not very noticeable as it is.

Eyes will be installed this weekend when I get back home. :)

Finally got some more of these painted and a couple with the glass eyes installed.
I like the painted eyes, but I'm really digging the glass eyes:

Thanks!
Yeah, the eyes definately have it! Well worth the time and work involved.
By the way, the smaller iris/pupil (right), looks pretty good as well and closer to the size of the eyes on the screen worm. However, I still prefer the medium sized ones.

Love your application of the blue to the body - use an airbrush?

Yeah, the larger iris eyes definately look better - by having some of the iris covered by the eyelids it no longer looks like he's staring.

Only improvement I'd suggest is that the top section of blue hair (feather) looks too long in comparison with the rest of him.

Good work. Going to get started on mine now (Easter holidays - yay!).
