"Allo" Worm from the Labyrinth

Lindsay loves hers:

She'd been asking me for one for years!
Looking back at the picture from that angle ... the eyes look a bit lopsided. I'll probably attempt a re-paint down the line.

These finished and WIP pictures are AWESOME everyone, keep 'em coming!
It looks like you guys had fun making this guy and I'm glad they are well received.

Here's another update on the two I'm doing. But forst let me ask: Has anyone ever tried growing their hair out long? You know that at some point in the growing process, you reach a point where it's just a mess, and you can't do anything to make it look good? Well, that's the stage these guys are in right now. They look like crap, but this is part of the process to make them look right, so don't freak out when you see this pics. I have it all under control.

First off, one cool thing about the magnets is that I realized I didn't have to paint on little thin rods of metal that like to spin around. I whipped out a piece of shhet steel that used to house a hard drive:

Added some flesh lines:

Blended:

Added some red stippling:

And then added flesh stippling over top everything:

The last painting step will be to add detail blueing over stippled areas, and more blending. I may also do a wash, but I wont know if it's needed until the blue and blending is finished.

Planning to start mine next week.
Besides of the task to give these an accurate paintjob, I´m going to add glass eyes to the sculpts instead of painting these.

Here are the ones I ordered (overall size: 10mm)...what do you think?

cool did you get any extras?

In hope that an O.D. of 10mm would work, I ordered 6 pairs (due to min. order amount). 2-3 Pairs will be needed for my worms (1 pair to mess up :lol), the others will be available plus the chance of a group order.

But I´d really like to wait for mine to arrive and having them aprooved by you guys first, o.k.?

Still thinking about a way to drill out the eyes w/o having to a) resculpt the eye-lids or b) having to sand the eyes to shape (remember, they´re GLASS eyes).

I'm looking into a way to make eyes that will be fitted to the space without requiring a re-sculpt of the eyelids. Stay tuned.

I'll also be testing some eyes for the eyeball lichen.

Curious what you´ll come up with....watching this thread with great interest :cool

Already ordered some differently sized blue eyes for the moss/ lichen myself.

Wow, you guys are really thinking out of the box, which is GREAT!
I can't wait to see how it all comes out.
I thought about putting some glass eyes as well, but I think it will always require resculpting the eyelids. No biggie though, since sculpy and a heatgun could be used and the re-sculpt is not that involved.
If the eyes are the right proportion for this, I may want a pair or two for myself.

got the eyes today and while they´re a close match to the ones they used on the puppet, I´m unsure if 9mm diameter would have been better.

will try to start one worm within the next days.

O.k. gentlemen...one of my casts died a cruelsome dead last week.
First I tried to drill out the eye-holes from the front, loosing the eye-lids which would have to be resculpted.
After destroying one eye, I went another route by drilling right through the BACK of the head and trying to create cavities for the glass eyes w/o loosing the lids. worked better but still isn´t optimal.

RESULT:
One worm is "gone" forever :angel
The eyes, while being 1mm too large IMO are AWESOME.

The second worm will be beheaded and the eye-cavities will be drilled out from the bottom. After this mission is accomplished, I´ll glue the head back to the body and resculpt the seam only.

So far so good :lol

Poor little guy, but he died for a good cause.
Despite their smiles, his brothers that I just finished painting mourns his loss

Markus - Do you think if I cast a "hollow" worm head, it would help out in the eye installation?
Shoot me a PM and we may be able to save that first worm with a transplant.

:lol :lol :lol
I´m sure he´d appreciate it ;)

Thanks for the kind offer but it wouldn´t be very cost effective to ship worm transplants across the pond :lol
Let´s see how it works with the second lil´guy and THEN we decide how to proceed, o.k.?

Short update...

I was able to behead one worm, hollow out the head, put in the eyes (a ROYAL PITA :wacko), fill the head, glue it back to the body and blend/ resculpt the seam today...

Right now it´s covered by the first layer of primer/ paint.

Will try to get pics on the coming weekend :)

Markus

p.s:
Also got the blue eyes for the lichen, but I´m still trying to figure out how to setup/ build it.

Just the eyes, and some minor acrylic detail work on the body left to do still (and of course the hair).

Great job so far!
But you should consider blending the flesh/ red a tad more into the blue IMHO, since it´s more subtle/ smooth on the puppet.
