"Allo" Worm from the Labyrinth

Looking forward to receiving my worm, so I've been thinking about the hair.

Most of the fake hair or fake fur I've seen looks to be too bright or more of a turquoise colour. Best I can see so far that matches the pictures seems to be Royal Blue. Best thing in this colour I've come across is this dyed fox fur:

Thoughts? Anyone found anything more accurate?

that looks pretty good, the little whisps of lighter colour seem to e a good match.

just noticed the little bits sticking out behind his cheeks, looks like more hair but a different colour

Yeah they appear to be side burns. I've got a camel hair brush that is willing to sacrifice a few hairs for the cause.

Exactly what I thought when I primed the first casting:lol
I may do a Jabba paint job on one these guys just for fun:love

Got mine, and he's all primed and ready!

Does anyone have some painting hionts and tips?

It's been a while since I did any "living" kits - I'm using mostly Citadel colours, with brushes or an airbrush ( First attempt ) if I can find it...

mine arrived today also, very pleased with the item. nice detail too. :thumbsup

Glad to hear it guys!
We'll be heading to the craft/fabric supply stores ourselves this afternoon.
I'm planning to do a few more full builds of these guys since a bunch of our friends and family wants one of their own.

Received mine today, very pleased with it. Nicely detailed not too much and not too little.....just right. Very little prep required just a quick sand and he's ready to prime. I hope to start on the little guy this weekend.

Many thanks,
Malc.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, so please let me know if you'd rather me start a seperate one.

Here are some progress pics on the worms I am doing for myself and a client.

Messy but functional workstation:

I've epoxy glued some ludicrously strong magnets onto the bottom of the worms. With this little mod, you can slip a couple magnets or a thin piece of metal under your shirt and walk around with the little guy on your shoulder, or you can have him guard your refridgerator, or even be a daredevil and ride on the hood of your car:

I decided to start with the "flesh" colored areas first. I'm using oils on this and mixed up a strange concoction of yellow ochre, bright yellow, burnt sienna, burnt umber, and titanium white for the base coat:

Then I worked a mix of yellow ochre and burnt umber into the recesses:

Added some color patches with a mix of crimson, bright red, and just a dash of yellow ochre (the inside of the mouth is crimson and titanium white):

And then I added some highlights with titanium white:

It's still a bit too dark for my tastes, so I'll be lightening everything up by dabing a brush of white into everything (not as difficult as it would seem). And I'll also be smoothing everything out as well, but that doesn't take much work, as I always mix a little bit of turpentine into the paint to smooth it out and allow it to dry a little faster.

After that I'll be starting work on the blue areas, then hair, then a neat little base for him to sit on.

Am I the only one that's not seeing pictures from you, 3CW?

Possibly. You always seem to have trouble viewing my pics for some reason. I'm gonna have to start hosting them somewhere else. I know at least one person could see them, as I got a PM questioning some stuff in the images.

Looking great so far!!!

Would it be possible to send me the -obviously- high res pics of lil´wormy to odendall@t-online.de ...those would come handy when I start mine :D

Thanks in advance,

Markus

Solved. I had AdBlockPlus turned on, and for some reason, it was blocking your pictures. Sorry about that - your photos look great. Can't wait to see what you do next. :)

Nice start with the painting. It makes me want to get started on mine, but I'll have to wait for the weekend. After seeing your work I think I'll break out the oils just for the hell of it.
