But then they'd have to explain how Legacy's backstory only erases MOST of 2.0's, but retains those characters.
Not going to happen.
Plus they'd have to add another "based on characters by" credit.

But the game itself was based on the movie, so all they'd end up doing is combining the "Based on the characters" from the original film and the "Tron 2.0" game. Don't see an issue with that.
And they really don't need to explain how "Legacy" erases most of the "Tron 2.0" story, only explain what was not seen. Think of it like this: We don't see Lora in the film, but she's in the "Tron: Betrayal" and "Flynn Lives" ARG. And if you introduce Jet and have a scene between him and Sam, it'd pretty much re-affirm what was presented in "Tron Legacy," that the Bradleys became sort of a surrogate family to Sam (which Sam himself states that he appreciated Alan being a "father figure" to him during the scene after Sam's annual prank on the company). And by having Jet working at Encom, all you'd need is to see the name "Bradley" as the last name on his ID badge and you fill in the blanks with the idea that: A. he's the son of Alan and Lora. B. Since Sam considers the Bradley's as family, then Sam would logically consider Jet as a brother, if not a brother in arms.
Not to mention, the "Flynn Lives" ARG and "Tron: Betrayal" comic has a LOT of wiggle room. Besides, the ARG was more focused on Kevin and Sam Flynn, not so much of the Bradleys. So, you really don't have to explain a lot of things, just explain that Lora and Alan had a son, and everyone else can fill in the gaps in between (unless they want to make an ARG for the next film focusing on Sam and Jet).

I hope that ONLY the people whith the original group7 "clearance" get access to some of the premium swag. THAT would be cool. I'm sure that won't happen though.

Mercury is thought to fill in a spot that would not be Tron's or Quorra's. I thought she could be Ma3a's firewall, something like that, that would explain she can fight.
But I really see a parallel story, with Sam and Quorra on the outside, and Jet with Ma3a on the inside, while fCon is attacking Encom. That would give 2.0 enough new elements to justifiy its blend into TR3N.
Gosh, I'd so like to see that happening. >_<

Not to mention, if Dillenger Snr. is running fCon (as its implied in the game) it'd make sense for Dillenger Jr. to be at Encom, to force the attack on Encom from the inside of the company.
Addition Edit: Honestly, I can imagine a scene that, if Sam and Quorra enter the system with Jet, and Jet has a similar outfit to that in the game, I can see him complaining about it. Seriously, it would be a funny scene, with Jet saying, "Yeah, look at you two. You look cool. Now look at me. I'm like a giant glowstick! Stick me in a rave and I'll blend in!"

Sorry if this is old news but I got a jarvis figure today at target and saw a picture of a Castor figure on the back. Ive seen jarvis and Quorra figures on the internet but never in my life saw anything about this Castor figure before...

Yeah, but don't you think Sam and Quorra would get similar suits as well ? Differents suits would be a mess to figure out, not to mention the average joe who went see the movie without a clue.
But boy, a story like this would fill a two-hours movie for sure, that would make amend for the weak scripts of the previous two ! XD
OTHER SUBJECT : I find it quite suprising that there is Sam / Quorra discs, Rinzler and Kevin discs... but no Clu disc ? Am I forgeting something, or is there really no Clu disc out there ? The main baddy without merchandising ( apart the figures ) ?
I was really hoping the movie would do well so there would be a sequel so that's great to hear. I'm also someone who listens to the Daft Punk soundtrack at least once a day. I was hoping to see it again in IMAX.

Okaaay, this is so far ready as I can do as a font creation noob [...]. I named the font "Grid Legacy" - which is similar to the movie modified CRR-NTN. But there are definitely differences. I used only production screencaps, official promo stills, photos from eleTRONica, the Tron Legacy kids book covers "Out of the dark" and "Into the light", book "Derezzed" and "Game on!" watched some Tron Evolution vids on YouTube...
