Aliens M41A Pulse Rifles - Nerf Replica Builds

I had the same problem with the Hasbro Hero X Wing. All of the plastic is that waxy (HDPE) type. So I've sanded extra and washed it in AL thinners.

Just a double key surface approach. ;)

Got the the bolt slide on, paint black and olive...next up weather time...!!

Going to have a display stand, so built some test background patterns, one I stole from SW, the other is not unlike the floor tiles on the Sulaco

I could never understand how 95 rounds of 10mm would fit in a short mag like that one. Maybe 25 with a double stack format. Not to nitpick. Btw the Nerf bullets are 50cal...and caseless.

This is a great project thread, and I look forward to being able to do something similar with mine. Thanks for posting!

p.s. I preordered mine via Haslab and got it months ago. Not sure why others are still waiting.

Let the weathering begin...!!!!

Starting off with Rub'n'buff.......lots more to do..... ;)...hand paint scratches, black wash etc...

The Rub'n' buff is a little heavy, but a black wash will tone it down.

The display stand is in test mode....it will have 2 supports to hold her off the base. It's probably too wide at the base so may cut it down and it could be higher at the back, but I've sold this one and will ship it in the box it came in so it can't really be any higher or it would have to be in 2 parts, which is not ideal. It's also out of 6mm foam PVC, but it probably needs to be 10mm.

Will add an ID plate with logo and text

Looking good! Have you considered doing a very mild oil paint dot filter application to the green? I think a simple 3 color of raw sienna, burnt umber and oxide red would add variety to the green tone without distracting from your weathering.

Thx, that's a good idea, I've done it on vehicle models, but probably not for this.
I think that the wear and tear is tops...but no more:cool::cool:(y)(y)
Thx, yes it's a little heavy, will see how the wash turns out, might tone it down.

Weathering is a tricky beast. There are so many different ways to complete the process, it's challenging not to overdo it, but it usually turns out ok...;)

Looking very good; (y) (y):cool:did you try the shotgun slide and if yes, how's the paint holding-up?

Thx.
Yeah there is a catch when the slide goes back that wears the paint down back to white, so I just sanded it deeper in that small area. (y)

The HDPE parts where paint won't stick are both triggers, the stock and the exit port cover. Best way was to heat those areas and it promotes adhesion.

Also there's a part of the slide that needs painting, but it's past the slide lock point, so you have to hold it there and paint it. It's a pain, but it's visible when you action it.

So I tried contacting Hasbro to get more of the special color darts - Anybody know how to get those or maybe an extra magazine?
