Flares? Everything that's misleading from this demo involving the character interactions, texture detail, lighting, cutscenes, game play, texture detail, enemy AI, ect, are on the same level as the reduced flare detail from AVP? Aliens: Colonial Marines wishes it only had problems with flares. Is flares even a mechanic in the game?
Some of you people need to relax.
Well, you know, it's THEIR game, so they can make it however they want and we have to respect the wishes of the artist. Besides, I'm sure they always intended for it to be pared back in terms of features and aspects of gameplay. So, I'm sorry you fell in love with a flawed version, but this is the version they always meant to create.

Hey, they have my respect in that regard. They're just going to have to respect that I have no interest in buying or playing their game because every where I look says that they royally screwed up. Normally I would actually bite the bullet since ALIENS is one of my favorite franchises and support the game, but they literally went out of your way to acknowledge Alien3, retcon so many established details, further downplay Ripley's heroics into pointless wondering and dared to call this incoherent mess 'canon'. I've seen fan fic writers who have worked together on projects more involving than this game's story.
I had to download it to watch it, that site was buffering every 3 seconds. Gearbox pulled this with Duke Nukem Forever too, the preview stuff looked nothing like the final game.
Was some other company working on this before and it got handed off to Gearbox? They seem to be taking on the mantle of "rescuer of vaporware." Actually "rescuer" may be a bit strong...
Nope. It's been in Gearbox's hands since the mid-2000s. They started and stopped working on it a few times over the years.
If there are gameplay aspects in the demo that were never intended to be in the final game then they shouldn't have been in the demo.
There's a difference between a deleted scene, and throwing all your movie budget into hiring actors and locations for one scene that won't make it into the film in order to make a cool trailer.A lot of times stuff like this is cut for reasons like, for example, whatever was in the demo was no longer found to be fitting for the full game. Gameplay gets changed and suddenly an area in a demo gets cut because it's no longer found to be enjoyable in the context of a game.
This is why you can see locations in a game's advertising that might not make the final cut. For one reason or another, that specific part wasn't up to par with the rest of the experience. Movies do this same thing to - something that was used in a trailer may originally be intended to be in the final film, but may wind up getting cut before release.
They're not intentionally trying to pull a fast one on you.
All the game sites like IGN are practically owned by the game companies. You give them a bad review they'll stop letting you see the games early to review them and drive you out of business.
I would rather hear people who actually are playing the game that was made and hear their thoughts then what the game was sold as prior to release. We can have upset over the marketing but it's better to review the game that was actually delivered.
