Re: Aliens APC - 1/12 - ** 31st update, page 13 **
Thanx for the kind words guys.
As mentioned, the material cost for this is quite steep, the number of hours put into it was never intended to be part of the price. I'm close to a thousand hours now.
The next update will see the precious hull....Ah yessss....my preeeeciousssss... Much anticipated for sure.
Last week i started (spray)painting, the brown bess paintsamples among other.
Samples on the board.
Yes, it's that notorious brown bess, which is surprisingly.. uhmm.. brown..Humbrol #170.
Bagged.
Yesterday saw the first testcastings of a new urethane rubber for the tires. The previous rubber i used was giving pretty bad results, and immediately damaged the tiremold, but this stuff is very promising. I used an old mold (once used for the tirepattern), died the rubber black, and poured some pieces.
The shine is a nice subtle satin/flat, bit difficult to see on the pic. As this is urethanerubber, i superglued a resin casting to it, and it sticks like hell. Another problem solved that i'll come back to later.
Next up some production parts. 20 sets (2 each) of d-shackle hookup thingies (whatever you call them) on the nose. Used to cast them, easier to simply machine them.
Small itty bitty chamfered blockies, underneath the main door rail. Again 20 sets (3 each).
From left to right: nose-sidelight-covers, gunsled topdiscs, crescent wheeldisc positioners (top middle), and all the louvres on the rear (right). All 20 sets. All in all a good week, i must say, nearly 500 parts.
More soon.
Cheers,
Wasili
