Aliens / Alien War London armour set :)

I was recently enough to come into possession of this lovely bit of kit, and I thought y'all here might get a kick out of seeing it :)
Made in thick fibreglass and resin by John Riddell for the 1993 Alien War scare-atttraction in London, this is as close as you can get to the real thing without buying from Terry English himself... Being as John took a mould from an original screen-used set of Dietrich's armour to make this!

The pull is so nice that you can even see Terry's touchmark clearly on the chest-piece :D

It's a pretty heavy set - certainly the weightiest of any I've worn ( And I think I've tried all the major vendors by now! )... Then again, it was built to take punishment - Something that those of you who have acted in the Alien Encounter ( Or, indeed, Alien War itself ) will know was a very necessary consideration ;)

The ab pad is riveted to the chest piece for solidity, too.

There have actually been some upgrades done to this that were not part of the original Alien War build.
Aside from the waffle-pattern camping mat on the inside surfaces; there's a light-up dropdown sight in the ( Also fibreglass ) helmet - Either a Spatcave Studios unit, or a copy thereof, powered by 4 AAA batteries hidden in the top of the helmet; a little MAA-cam pouch under the lobster plate, and a genuine Pentax lens in the very nice resin cast camera.

On the belt, we have a couple of nice foam-block replica pouches, and a real pop-gun belt tool.

The straps have a bunch of grenades, all resin with a nice metallic paintjob, and a replica rubber knife in a real leather sheath; and there's a very nice shoulder-lamp consisting of a resin box/handle/arm assembly, with a real Reflecta lamp, properly reconfigured to the filming setup and wired to a D-cell battery box.
Got a nice little welder as well, resin kit with a pretty decent BB paintjob.
Overall, I'm really happy to have been given the opportunity to own this! It's a piece of Aliens fandom history - And it's been fascinating comparing it to my Terry English set, and friends' Chef/Spatcave/Goldenarmour etc sets! :D

Id say its a terry english full size hicks recast, not a dietrich alien war casting . the alien war one looks like a bra.
dietrichs had a scooped collar/low neckline and was smaller.measures 13" instead of 15". This one was done by Nickatron ages ago. theres an old build thread on here.

Good info. Where is the 13 VS 15 inch measurement taken? Mine is a Men At Arms Fiberglass set, no scooped neckline.

cannot be nickatron, he only did one single set for personal use. He's never recasted anything for sale.
If you need help ID'ing anything or want any fun info or history feel free to message me.

NICE!! I owned a set of the John Riddell armour and if memory serves he stated to me that the chest and helmet were from dietrich's screen used stunt BUT the leg armour was from hudson's screen used. when everything was sold, the stunt armour mold's were all jumbled together. man I miss my armour...

At the rate that 3D printing is going it shouldnt be long before there are really accurate files out there. Uscm armor is easily the coolest feeling ive ever had wearing a costume. The pepakura files that are available need a little slight tweaking but EVA foam and fiberglass is enough to get a set going. Aliens stuff seems to be gaining popularity lately.

Technically i have the accurate 3d files for the Pulse rifle and the Smartgun. Also, the nearly accurate file for the armor, i am just extra lazy to print them out... yet :)
