ALIEN: ROMULUS News And Updates!

Agreed, and im still so let down by Covenant being a course correction to be even more Alien like, robbing us of the promised Paradise sequel.

I was under the impression it was Fox who said they were not going to let him do the sequel unless it was an Alien movie.

I was this close to seeing it at 3:00 today but I had too much work and couldn’t get out. I’m hoping to make it tomorrow afternoon if it’s not sold out.

We were originally going to see it at 10:30 tonight but were able to go to the 4:30 showing instead. Lucked out and they had one popcorn bucket left to top it off.

I really wanted to like it.
Everyone said we’d like it.
While watching I really tried to like it.
It was just so STUPID! And that ending…

ALIENS had the exact same ending as ALIEN. Countdown to self destruct, rescue the innocent, problems having an escape ship, false victory, unwanted stowaway, gear up for battle, out the airlock. They didn't do that again did they? LOL

Pretty much beat for beat. Though it also ripped off other installments in the franchise, such as stupid characters doing stupid things . . .‍ (facepalm)

I still enjoyed it though. All the way up until the end at least. All the sets were on point. Prop design and production overall were stellar! Suspense was great. I even jumped a couple times. That ending though. Fumbled at the one yard line . . .

And can we talk about how
Bad/stupid Rook looked! Worst deepfake ever! Video games look better!
Yeah, that was bad. But I can forgive them because of the budget.

What I CAN'T forgive is the utterly stupid 4th-wall breaking stuff that took you out of the movie.

I was pretty satisfied right after having seen it. It was a fun, exciting ride. But the more I think about it, the more irked I get at how little it adds.

Robert Meyer Burnett (as usual) has some pretty good takes (spoiler warnings):

How many hours long is that video? :D

I checked: 1 hour 40 minutes. So much for brevity being the soul of wit.

RMB's analysis-vids can sometimes go 2-3 hours. But they are usually packed with good insights. If most of Hollywood would just listen to him, genre entertainment would be a much happier place.

(I wonder if he's a member here. He builds a lot of models... and seems to have at least a passing interest in props.)

The fan service was the worst I've ever seen in a movie and totally unnecessary, as was the godawful deepfake. I can do better than that with Swapface on my laptap, what gives?

The end was so bizarroland I can almost give it a pass. It was a fun ride, though which is as much as I expected. Alien Isolation is a far superior 'in between movies' take.
