Alien Pulse Rifle stands and mounts

I have finally gotten around to weathering and personalizing my airsoft Pulse Rifle. I am trying to decide how to display it, wall mount vs on a shelf, while also taking the weight into account.

The two main concepts I'm wrestling with are:
- Sci-fi floor grating, always a classic, maybe with slime or acid blood holes
- Rock/stone/terrain, maybe with slime or acid blood holes

Can someone recommend a material I could use for the grating? 2019-07-06_1928

I only have a Dremel and a small band saw to work with, so large plastic pallets might be overkill.

I'd definitely go with wall mounting, clutter-free surfaces are great things to have!

I wouldn't be too worried about weight, you can either find some studs to go into, or there are always tons of options for anchors. Different types of toggle bolts, etc.

I haven't got any ideas from the top of my head for the grating, but I'm sure someone here will be able to help!

Make sure to show us pics when you're done!!

Love that idea. I didn't have the space for something like that, so I just went with one of these invisible cantilevered racks - you can mount it vertically or horizontally. Link to my pics below:

Kind of a follow up to this, but I've begun the process of 3D printing the parts to make this stand...finally.

Main base is MDF, then with various "sci fi floor grating" elements. Yellow bit in front is a plaque holder, yellow stuff in the back is a sort of spaceship handrail type of thing. Pink columns will be painted with hazard symbols and yellow LEDs. 3 pieces that hold up the rifle are just misc greebles: one will use a dowel and a brace to hold up the stock, middle piece cradles the mag base, and the orange thingie is a similar mechanical table cap with an alien chest morphed in. The xeno shoulders really make a good shape to hold the barrel.

Everything is a WIP. I've only printed the pink stuff so far, so I may tone it down. It's more of a diorama than I usually go for.
