The wood spine requires exposed areas to be covered with details. I boxed that area out with styrene in a 3 angle arrangement,
rather than stay with the arc.
I had to combine the nose with the saucer section. For that, I built an adaptor to convert from the saucer base
to the back of the nose.
I started on lighting with two copper tape 12 volt power busses & some resistors,
and built two light boxes on the tail.
Two more light boxes (wired with blue 1203 SMD LED’s) were installed along the back edges of the tail as well.
This assembly will illuminate the curved back section of the “wings” with a continuous band of blue light.
Built from “.06” (1.5mm) thick chipboard, with a blue COB 12 volt LED strip.
Test fire. Of course the camera cannot handle the extreme light intensities.
Once the strips were confirmed as good, I covered the front with a VERY thin styrene diffuser and covered the
top and bottom to conceal the frame.
Installed onto the back of the wings.
Additional greeblies in the back area….
Till next time….
