    Looking good! :thumbsup
Can't wait to see it on a sterling or MG-34 as well.

Anyone else finish up any of their pieces?

Got some work done roughing the T-Track onto one of my Sterling kits. Now all I've got to do is break out the electrical welder and finish the rest of the beasts:

Lookin' great guys, keep the pics coming!

I have at least 4-5 pictures showing slightly different layouts for the 7 grip ANH Luke/Vader and the 6 grip ESB Luke grip placements, does anyone here have a diagram that is considered the "end-all, be-all" definitive grip layout??

If so I'd love to see it, and if it includes the D-rings in the diagram then I'll be set. :):thumbsup

    Hey Scott,
I second that request. If anyone can do a nice 'at a glance' chart that would be great.

Here's a pic of the t-track on Art Andrews' real MG-34.

I was informed that if Art was a better snowboarder, there would be more photos than just this one close up. :lol

Very nice. I have a sterling I need grips for. What did you use to bend the track? Just a hair dryer to soften it up a little?

    Thanks Jason,

I used a heat gun actually--but very briefly, sort of rotating the track in front of the gun for about 10-12 seconds then bending with some smooth faced pliers. They're pressure fit and hold themselves in place just fine.

Hmmm no heat gun. Do you think a hair dryer would work? Also, how did you get them pressure fit? (You can PM if you wish so we don't hijack but I think this infor might be good for other idiots like myself to know)

I don't think it would be hijacking at all.
Anything to help people get their pieces built up would be great.

If I had any of the other pieces besides sabers, I'd post a tutorial myself.

Here are another two pics installing the T-Track on my Sterling. I followed the methods I've read used by Kurtboy and others. See where the track intersects with the widest point of the hole and that's where you want your bend to be. Once you've made your bend trim down the end into a "V" shape until it fits nicely in place and then mark where the bend on the other end will be. I found that the tracks held themselves in place very securely. If one seemed a little loose I bent it back upward very slightly and that fixed it.

A hair dryer should be fine--it might offer more control than the heat gun too--at least once I held the track in front of the gun too long and I'm glad I had some slop to work with.

I don't have the proper tool to figure the exact angle for the ANH grips, but I'd like to create a small jig so that I can just use a disc sander to get them all consistent. See cheesy diagram below :$

Can someone post the angle on this?

If so, post your pics. I get bored of looking at them on just my props.

Attached are a few pics during my prep process. For cutting the grips to length (3-9/16"), I used my mini chop saw that I use for cutting arrows. I then used a 1" metal file to shape the angle on the top edge.

For the spacing of the grips, I used the Parts of Star Wars template.

Thank you for the great product Gino!

Nope. There's one in the junkyard specifically for that.

    This is all about:
    - providing a brief history of t-track and SW props that utilized them
    - showing off pics of completed replicas with this t-track
    - specs/advice for those about to finish their builds

In the better late than never department, I present the Luke Skywalker ANH saber. I have noticed that the plastic gets dulled down after cutting and sanding, however a good polishing with NOVUS #2 Fine Scratch Remover will blacken them back up again.

As one of those people who hasn't seen this thread (and who is finally getting around to properly finishing a Luke ANH graflex) - thanks for posting all of this.

It's extremely helpful for me to re-familiarize myself with the prop and to make sure everything is accurately built.

I was wondering did you mention that you had actual castings of the original T-track that you used for the T-track you have?

I have a bunch of these t track grips from gino. They are great in the profile etc, but I have to say that I find their colour/ tone of black not accurate enough. I own 4 different real t tracks profiles, bought as NOS in the UK (all not quite right unfortunately) and they have a much deeper, richer black than Gino's which seem much more charcoal in comparison. Any chance of a re-run in the future Gino with a more accurate colour match?

Have you or anyone you know ever taken a piece to compare to one of the SU sabers at an exhibit?

Clutch also stated that if you polish them just a bit with NOVUS #2 they become VERY black looking.

Keep in mind we all thought ATAT pilot helmets were WHITE. And they are grey. We thought Solos Hoth jacket was BLUE but it was brown. So if you are comparing Ginos grips to what is BARELY seen on screen... IDK.

Next to all my real t tracks the colour is way off Gino. Still good pieces, just not that accurate in my opinion. They look too chalky.

Every picture that is taken there is different lighting in each picture. You have to take that into consideration. Gino took every detail into consideration with this stuff I seriously DOUBT that he would overlook the color. Besides you say you have REAL T-track. T-track came in all different sizes and shapes and colors (at least different shades of brown and black). Saberfreak's T-track were brown for crying out loud.
