Hello All:

FYI- at a local Walmart in Valencia, CA--they had (bought the last few-- Star Trek Ships from Hot Wheels)--does anyone know if Target or Toys R Us are selling them ?

And has anyone see the Star Trek II TWOK Phaser from Art Asylum/Diamond Select Toys ?

suppose to have started shipping by now

thanks

I've seen the hot wheels at TRU but nowhere else.

The TWOK phaser is on hold for now pending approval of a second prototype.

My local TRU has the refit and the Reliant.

What I don't understand is why most places online are advertising them as 1:50 scale? :confused :confused :confused

Because that's what Hot Wheels is telling everyone... I have no idea how such a huge error still hasn't been caught by one of these companies. :rolleyes

They are not all to the same scale. This bunch of Hot Wheels ships includes the Reliant and Enterprise-D, and the D should be more than twice the length of the Reliant. :lol

Speaking of which, is there any clue yet as to what the overall length of the Abrams ship is supposed to be? I have heard in reviews that it seems "huge" on screen, but I'd like to know if it is supposed to be more than the 1,000 ft length of the Refit.

KHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE... vin. :angry

:lol

(I guess you haven't seen the film yet, Karl :()

There aren't too many shots that would give any kind of definite sense of scale, but my ballpark guess is that this new Enterprise is probably twice the size of the TOS/refit version.

Which would put the Narada into Fesarius/Borg Cube territory. That ship is freaky-big.

As usual, the only two ships in this new Hot Wheels set that will be even close to in-scale with each other will be the Refit and the Reliant. :(

Just got back from a local Wal-Mart, they had the Enterprise-D and the Enterprise-A. I guess Hot Wheels made a mistake because the "Refit" is label has NCC-1701-A, and even they back of the box states that it is the A, But.. there is no A anywhere on the toy, it was just simply NCC-1701.

I have not as yet seen the film. I guess there's a scene where they discuss the length of the ship compared to the "Prime Universe" version's length? :lol

Regards the Refit not having the "-A", it's confusing because there are three ships that look "mostly" the same... the TOS 1701, the Refit 1701 (supposed to be the same ship but upgraded), and lastly the SECOND Refit, 1701-A (which is a new vessel entirely). The Refit with no "-A" appears in the first three films, and the '-A" version appears in Trek IV and afterward.

Sometimes both "movie version" TOS ships get called 1701-A, out of convenience I guess. I hope that was a sufficiently nerdy explanation. Now please excuse me while I tape my glasses together and find my inhaler.

I picked up a Reliant today at walmart. They had 3 Enterprise Refits and 1 Reliant. All 3 of the Enterprises looked like the saucer and/or the nacelles were out of alignment with each other. This is a nitpick of mine so I didn't get any of those. The Reliant is a very cool model. the hull is metal and the nacelles/cross beam are plastic with a cool stand and the alignment is spot on.

It's a nitpick of mine, as well. Out here in San Diego, same thing on the 4-5 refits I've seen. Without taking it out of the box, you can't tell what work would be involved to realign it.

I haven't found the Reliant, yet. It's the one I most want to pick up.

Well if the Reliant is any indication, the plastic is hard, not bendable like say the old micro machine kind. So it might require controlled breaking and re-gluing.

TO the Wrath of Khan Phaser.

Is it me, or does the fact that the phaser comes with movie phrases come around as kind of....silly? I mean, what's it going to do? Here's my biggest fear. When you pull the trigger, instead of getting the zap sound like you should, you get a phrase and THAN the zap. Example

"Khan, you bloodsucker!" Zaap!
"Fire!" Zaap!
"Phasers on Stun." Beep!
"I don't like to lose!" Zaap!

On your knees and pray this doesn't happen.

Damn, and I expected them to be as cool as the TOS "toys" :\:unsure
