AA case begins

:eek:eek:eek:eek:eek

OK... I am TRYING very hard not to get too excited about this.... and not to read too much into it, but... the armor worn by the sandtroopers appears to be slightly different in detail than the final stormtrooper design, lacking a few key features. Is there ANY chance those original suits made at Elstree might have been used for the sandtrooper costumes and then AA made the armor that was later used for the stormtroopers?

I have a rudimentary list of some of the differences. They are minor, but they are there.

I know hoping those early suits made by elstree being the sandtrooper suits might just be wishful thinking on my part, but it would answer why they are slightly less refined than the final stormtroopers!

The sculpt was not changed neither were the moulds - detailing was added later

Well crud. I knew it was too good to hope for.

Was there any specific reason for the additions? Just curious as I have always been fascinated by the differences between the sandtroopers and the stormtroopers?

Brian it's so great that all these years later, us fans have the opportunity to convers with you freely like this.
As a kid in '77...and being overwhelmed by Darth Vader...if someone would have told me that 30 years later I/we will be able to share a public venue with the ORIGINAL sculptor of this character I would have burst into laughter.

Very cool to have you with us little people. :) Seriously, very cool. I too would love to see more of your artwork.

Well that's the thing, Brian -

Independent of feelings about Big Guy/Little Guy, AA's behavior is totally indefensible; morally, ethically, and professionally. And yes, he defrauded plenty of people who fell for his out-and-out misrepresentation. People taking credit for others' work is truly despicable.

On a more positive side.... Maybe Andrew is just a moron... maybe he really does think that he designed and created all this stuff.

as an example, about two years ago I emailed him in regards to how the belts were assembled...

he said that he used leather strips, and hooks and things to latch the back "as velcro had not been invented yet."

Here is some info. on velcro...

Mods please act on AA's accessory to recasting.
JJ

So have the courage of your conviction and send the mods all the "evidence" you have. I'm more than happy to stand by their judgement.

Its a shame TE isnt still a member here as his vicious and racist blog a couple of weeks ago would have got him yet another banning

Cheers

No, he never joined up. Would have LOVED to read his postings had he though:lol

he probably would have said he had the charactor idea and name (and no... he didn't take it from the germans... it was his idea) since he was 5, started sculpting when he was 7, and approached Lucas Film with the idea for Star Wars in 1975 after having sculpted the molds out of Lion's dung.

And what was YOUR evidence about AA's molds being original? Never did get to see it, but you sure did say it often.

Nice try at a reverse. I have no interest in talking about AA and his moulds. Its been done to death. The guy lied about too many things that no one will ever believe a word he says here. He made his bed, he can lie in it.

However you made serious accusations about me. Like I said if you have any guts then let the mods know about it so they can act accordingly. I know you wont as youre happy to continue as TE's mouthpiece here, continuing his mad ranting and racist comments.

Cheers

Hey.....smurfs ARE short and blue. Ain't nothing else to be said about it:)
I wasn't the person recast. And as he was banned over this very subject, call me a cynic about justice happening to you, no matter how much you deserve it.

Hey Brian,
I think Art may be onto something here.
We realize that the actual molds/forms did not change between the sandtroopers and the stormtroopers, only the inclusion of some additional vac formed parts. Parts such as the shoulder connectors, ab cover plate, belt drop boxes, and the different sniper knee.

I think there is a good chance that the trooper suits you saw at Elstree were the sandtroopers. Especially since we believe they were made first. The final completed molds were more than likely just passed on to AA's shop to continue the work. Due to the gap in time between the Tunesia shooting schedule and the death star scenes, it's likely there was an opportunity to make some additions to the completed suits, ie the addition of the new detail pieces as well as the refining of the painted detailing of the helmets.

Very interesting.

Thanks for your valued contribution Jumpin Jax!

NHM - No I dont think anyone else could have made the Sandtrooper helmets - certainly it goes against everything thats been said before (including John Mollo's diary) . Also there are too many similarities between the few sandtrooper Stunts, and the more common "clean/Death Star" HDPE Stunts.
