you know, you mentioned all the cut-offs on the DVD... it makes you wonder... what happened when they cut tape... maybe he paid some college studant (or 5 year old) to do it all for him, and the DVD is made to look like he did it... :)

My take is that AA won and Lucas didn't. Thats a result in my book.

Then I suggest you read the court documents. The guy was shown to be a liar, a thief and as the above videos show, a fraud. LFL will still bury this guy with appeals to where he won't even be able to buy a gallon of milk. Many of us are pulling for "big brother" in this court case.

I did read them and he won. Think you guys need to learn to live with that

It's one thing making money on the back of Lucas - it's another thing to claim the credit for the work done by artists on the film

1. Ralph McQuarrie (designs)
2. Liz Moore ( sculptor - helmet)
3. Myself ( sculptor - armour)
4.John Mollo (wardrobe designer - and he tried to call John Mollo a liar in court)
5. Film mould makers and plasterers ( made moulds for the armour)

Ultimately his ripped off all the fans that bought his helmets and armour that were priced so highly because of the false claims of coming from original moulds.

Well that's the thing, Brian -

Independent of feelings about Big Guy/Little Guy, AA's behavior is totally indefensible; morally, ethically, and professionally. And yes, he defrauded plenty of people who fell for his out-and-out misrepresentation. People taking credit for others' work is truly despicable.

Brian, I'd just like to take the opportunity, as others have, to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contributions to these films, the creation of their characters, and the absolutely intoxicating stranglehold they held on my imagination as a child. These designs, these characters were my childhood...countless hours hunched over storybooks, and bubblegum cards with a magnifying glass, and sitting in front of fuzzy, taped from cable VHS copies of the films, trying to discern the most minute details and unique characteristics from one set of armour to the next, and obsessing over those very subtle changes from one film to the next...all the time wondering who in the world had what had to be the coolest job in the world in getting to make that stuff. Thank You. I can't say it enough.

Completely agree with that i couldn't give a stuff about him using LFL's IP(guess it's not now) to make replicas afterall we all either make sell or buy bootleg props.
To be honest i'm not really phased about the BS about original moulds and such pretty much every replica company out there does the same thing even the legit ones make wild claims about cast from original or uses terms likes accurate when it's not true, buyer beware i say do your research make comparisons yourself never take advertising as 100% true.
The claiming to be the creator though does get me but that's because i'm a fan and i respect other peoples creative work in that field, obviously AA isn't and is purely in it for the business and like they say there's no room for scruples in business.
To be blunt LFL should have credited the true people involved long ago and probably a lot of this mess would have been avoided because he wouldn't have sold as much as he has and would probably have moved onto something else.

Brian, thank you for everything. Both your creation as well as your unimpeachable facts about the process; they have laid years of lies and complete SHASH to rest.
JJ

PS. Oh yes, and proven Trooperexpert right. And bingobongo an accessory to fraud.

Jumpin Jax - To suggest that I was "an accessory to fraud" is ridiculous, unacceptable and potentially libelous.

Your buddy Matt Gauthier/Trooper Expert's only interest in this hobby is cold hard cash and spreading his nastly little malicious rumours. Ironic that over the years he's probably ripped off as many if not more people than AA. PLEASE don't try and take the moral high ground!

Mods please act on JJ's verbal diarrhea

Cheers

There were several suits made at Elstree before the moulds were sent off to Ainsworth.
:eek:eek:eek:eek:eek

OK... I am TRYING very hard not to get too excited about this.... and not to read too much into it, but... the armor worn by the sandtroopers appears to be slightly different in detail than the final stormtrooper design, lacking a few key features. Is there ANY chance those original suits made at Elstree might have been used for the sandtrooper costumes and then AA made the armor that was later used for the stormtroopers?

I have a rudimentary list of some of the differences. They are minor, but they are there.

http://www.looksirdroids.com/replica_sand-storm.htm

I know hoping those early suits made by elstree being the sandtrooper suits might just be wishful thinking on my part, but it would answer why they are slightly less refined than the final stormtroopers!
