A new trooper in progress...

Stick with the two different colors, it lends some more authenticity. :) I painted my TE suit one color of white, and the helmet another. Very subtle, but just one step closer to the film appearence.

Thanks for the advice.

I remember reading that TE recommends a different tone for the helmet ('dove white' IIRC).

I managed to find some time tonight to fine tune some of the pieces. Basically, just trimming and sanding the edges of the armor parts for a better fit and tidier finish.

There are a few bits which still pinch, the arms in particular. I think I'll reshape the edges a bit with my heat gun, to make it more comfortable.

I suppose to get that truly accurate film-used Stunt look you need a slightly creamy white ABS for the armour and then slap paint on your helmet, just as rough and uneven as you like.

Looking good so far mate - keep us posted.

Cheers

Jez

My helmet is not the bumpy version, but I have painted it in appliace gloss white - hopefully this matches the tone of the ANH movie helmets, approximately.

The armor is currently just polished ABS.

All the pieces are trimmed and sanded now - I just need to make a few adjustments with some ABS glue and add the snap system, then I should be good to go.

More pics as I progress. :)

A little progress - here's a few shots of a test fitting I did tonight.

Still got loads to do - the thigh pieces need finished and secured with a snap system (they are just taped together at the back in the pics), the thermal detonator needs completed, the chestplate buttons need to be added, plus the various parts to add to the legs etc. and the blaster is only 75% finished...

Also, I need to trim some more. It's really not very comfortable to wear, and damn hot.

Anyway, onto the test pics...

Please let me know what you think so far. :)

nice.

A few fit issues:

1) raise the belt so you can see more of the codpiece
2) raise the thighs up
3) move the waist boxes off to the side
4) Tighten down the calf pieces so they don't look so thick...unless you have Hyuuge calves.

Thanks Raj - good advice about the belt and boxes, I'll do just that.

Please ingore the thighs for the time being - they are not strapped to the rest of the armor yet or even fastened properly at the back (apart from a piece of tape foer the pics.) :D

My calves are quite big so I had to shim the pieces, but I will be able to close them a little more tightly I think.

Thanks again for the input,

Al

Also shorten the drop boxes, so they are right up against the bottom of the belt, I would use white elastic for this.

Thanks mate, will do. :)

I found some spare time today as I had the day off work - I managed to paint the armour pieces the same colour as the helmet as I decided the difference was just too much.

More pics as I progress...

Who's the Vader? Looks like a JB V2? Ask those guys if that autographed Carrie Fischer photo is for sale...I'm serious. :lol

Looking good ob1al.

Couple questions: Can you clarify why the color of the helmet and armor is different if they are from the same AP kit but just made at a different time? Sorry but I don't see in the thread if you already mentioned this.
Also, is there generally enough room in the AP helmet to modify the way they do with the F/X helmets (fans, speakers, etc.)?

Can't wait to see future progress pics.

Thanks,
JT :)

The helmet is not an AP - I bought and assembled/painted that first then the armor later, thus the difference in color.

Yeah, I have fitted two fans, padding and a voice changer into my (screen-accurate sized) helmet without too much difficulty although like the originals, it needs to be turned to the side to take on and off.

Sithlord, the Vader and Carrie Fisher photo are mine - Jimmy was round my house showing off his handiwork with the Imperial cap. :)
