A new trooper in progress...

Hi all

I'd thought I'd show a couple of progress pics of my work in progress ANH trooper...big thanks to Vader71 for helping me out with the armor parts and to Darth Domain for the blaster.

I need to do loads more work on this, including adding a secure strapping/snap system, fine trimming some of the edges and sanding them down, adding shims to the leg pieces and modifying the blaster with some resin sterling parts...I really hope I can find the time to have this ready by halloween.

More pics as I progress.

Regards

Al

Very nice... but at least you could have worn something black when trying on the armor. :thumbsup

Is it just me or is the helmet a different color than the armor? Will you paint both or just the armor to have it match up?

Looking forward to more updates. :)

The helmet is slightly more 'milky white' than the armour as I built it last year - I can't decide whether to repaint the helmet or paint the armor..

I'll figure that one out later I think - it actually looks not so noticable 'in person', I guess the camera flash shows up the difference a little more. :)

Coming on well Al, make the ab buttons are the correct colours buddy, yours look black in the photo. They should be grey and blue. Yeps looks like a AP. Nice work Al.

and a bit smaller... ;)

Nice kit, great start Al. :thumbsup

Keep us posted.

Thanks chaps. :)

Re. the helmet versus the armor colour - I've been researching this aspect and according to various sources (TE for example) the original movie helmets were slightly different in colour to the body armour. Can anyone here confirm this theory?

I am considering just white t-cutting the lid to gove it more of a shine, rather than go down the route or a helmet repaint or painting the armour, which looks fine as is.

Any thoughts about this?

Here is a shot i took of my ANH Hero helmet WIP on my TE WIP and there is s difference in color well the AP is a deffrent color then TE

Sweet - they both look great, nice one mate.

well it looks like you fill out your armor better then i fill out mine. But i have reason to believe AP armor might be smaller then TE. The AP helmet is a tight fit while T.E has a ton of room. sorry to hijack.

Here's a screengrab which demontrates a possible difference between the helmet and armour white tone:

The helmets are beige plastic painted white while the armour is white plastic,so there's the reason why they are different :p

Your AP helmet I take it,is unpainted white ABS while the TE armour is painted white. It's all about the paint :)

Nice work Al.

Where did you get your armor?

Thanks Chris, I bought it from another member here. :)

Stick with the two different colors, it lends some more authenticity. :) I painted my TE suit one color of white, and the helmet another. Very subtle, but just one step closer to the film appearence.
