A collaborative effort: G/H USCM Locker Control Panel

Re: Custom graphics help?: USCM Locker Control Panel

Progress....

I think this is about right font-weight wise.

What are your thoughts Tommin (yes I know they're not all there)? Untitled-2.jpg

This thing should be fairly common to find.

Re: Custom graphics help?: USCM Locker Control Panel

Tom- do you want me to add a "stem" to their bottom as well? It could open up potential for more function potentially? Just a thought.

Video looks great man!

Sorry for missing this earlier. I really like the idea of the stem detail but at this point in the game, it is not needed. Thanks again for everything! :)

Re: Custom graphics help?: USCM Locker Control Panel

But then again, if the stem detail makes things easier on your end, I can work with that too. :)

Nope - not a need or bother. Curious when I print them what the support looks like though.

Just salvaged some bad pulls in an effort to pull back some extruded button cards. Keeping in mind that this is a set dressing and not a costume piece. :)

Re: USCM Locker Control Panel (working towards perfection)

Finally- 3 further file adjustments later, 6 failures and 6 tank cleanings.. Printing very well :)
Note- my camera phone does not take the worlds best pictures.
I did have to add a stem to the bottom of each, the auto-supports were breaking away on up to half the buttons on each print, but this solved it.

What you have right there looks brilliant man. It is difficult to tell from the pics but the base card to this may actually work to an advantage with this one. :)

Deepen the outer skirt buttons by at least .5mm if you want me to continue painting them. Still incredibly cool. Glad to have you on board with this. :D

Not a hard request. Will do after this weekend (I have PAX West! 4 days of omg tired awesomeness).

They look awesome though - definitely capture the screen look.

Re: The G/H USCM Locker Control Panel

Couldn't have done it without your help. :)

After receiving quite a bit of wonderful feedback on my locker control panel, one common remark comes up all too often. What are you planning to do about the buttons? At this point in the game, I’m not planning to do anything with the buttons and leave that little customizing detail up to the individual fans. However, there are several quite genius ideas already floating around and it is my intention to outline some of them here.

So kick back, relax with a beverage of your choice. Hang out for a few minutes. I do hope that you enjoy the brief little slide show that is about to follow.

Customizing the USCM Locker Control Panel

img35.jpg

For the next stage of button customization, you are going to need to carefully mark and drill out pilot holes for each of the button stems.

img36.jpg

Here, I simply polished the holes and made them a bit more uniform.

Option 1: Thumb tacks from the hardware section of a local department store. This pack is about 47 cents. They come in both white and chrome so they will need to be painted.

img38.jpg

Not a difficult thing to paint because the already come mounted on a piece of corrugated cardboard.

Carefully set in place and wait for someone to develop some decals for this.

Option 2: Upholstery Nails, again from the hardware section of a local department store. This pack costs 97 cents and to my delight, already come painted to fit my needs.

Carefully set in place and wait for someone to develop some decals for this.

Option 3: Custom 3D printed, screen accurate buttons. Still calculating the cost of typical production for these. They do require some painting.

I was able to knock these out in an evening. Best job I ever had.

Carefully set in place and let the world kindly admire your handy work. :D
(end tutorial)

I do hope this little presentation helps to answer some common questions regarding the one little detail that I have apparently forgotten. :D

Re: The G/H USCM Locker Control Panel

So honestly excited to see the buttons incorporated. They look great! Happy to be a part of the project.

Re: The G/H USCM Locker Control Panel

It is perfection in the making. After 3000+ views on this one, I'm kinda stunned that there are so few responses on this one. :D

Thanks!! :D

I've updated the thread title and original posting to include the latest version of the USCM Locker Control Panel.

Project update, just in case anyone is still following this one. It is a 'tough ombres' just to be sure. I am very grateful to everyone that sponsored this particular run. :D
