80S robot eyes how have they done it?

hello can somebody tell me how they've done the eyes on 80s robot?

If I had to guess, behind the exterior lens is a circular black cup thats hugging another circular clear cup hooked up basic animatronic style. This is the quickest I could find in two seconds.

looks like they may just have blinders in front of the light that they raise and lower the sides of to make the dark area out of shadow, kind of like Johnny 5's eyebrows, but staying in front of the lights or right behind the lenses the whole time, then cut the light momenatarily to make the blink effect.
