'66 Batphone WIP

I've often wondered why the original prop maker didn't start with a 500 that already had a dial blank. Guess the effort of sourcing one just wasn't worth it.

Cut and added a 3/4" mdf base to this. The only thing I'll change on the next one is maybe to dullcoat instead of gloss coat. Or maybe just semi gloss.

Does anyone have any ideas on where the black center buttons could be found? I've been digging for a while now with no luck.

What‘s your estimate for the size of the flat pushbutton switch on the original Batphone? The button on the one suggested by Funky is nearly an inch in diameter which seems to big to me. Here’s one that looks closer in size at a little under a half inch and it has a rounded top. However, the chrome bezel has a knurling that I don’ t see in the original.

I’ve also posted a request to your interest thread to be added. Here’s pic of my current replica.

Sorry, this project got thrown on hold when some things came up a few months ago that were bigger than any projects i had going on at the time. I saw your post and will add you to the list. Thank you :)

I completely understand. Life is good with curveballs. In my case, I have no need for this to be a working phone since I’ve killed off my land line. It’s just a display piece. If it lights up and beeps correctly that’s a plus for me. If not, it’s not a dealbreaker for me. I’ll keep an eye out to see if/when you get back to this.

Exactly the same for me. It’s not like Commissioner Gordon is calling ME anytime soon!
