3footer SD's part ID

Hi ictvuser:)

great discovery!!!
Can you tell me what is the brand of 1/72 Panzer III kit?

I have to check, but it looks like there are other options besides a Panzer. I was at a hobby shop a couple of days ago and notice a 1/72 tank with a simliar chassis. It was not a Panzer, the name of the tank was just a bunch of letters/numbers and the tank had a fixed gun. The only minor difference I notice was in the raised circle numbs on the bottom of the SD piece (e.g., track return rollers).

When looking at the SD part in the photo, I noticed what seems to be enough clearance for the part to fit without trimming the bottom. Also, why go thru the trouble to make the two notches.

Maybe it is a 1/76 tank chassis? If you know the dimensions of the area that the piece will fit into, I can measure the part for you to see if the 1/72 part would fit.

ESCI.

You will need one of the earlier kits. You should be able to find the Panzer in a local hobby shop (or online) under the brand name Italeri. However, I believe the tank return rollers (e.g., the circle numbs) are detailed differently. You are looking for a tank return rollers that are solid with tiny bolt detailing verses hollowed out rollers - but that is a really easy fix.

I would still recommend that you check out 1/76 Panzer III.

The part on the bottom circled in BLUE on the first page http://www.therpf.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4189&d=1182743107 is from the rare Aurora USS New Jersey.

The right side black circle looks to be from the Akagi. The opposite part of that tower is on the left side. If so they are from the 1/700 Hasegawa Akagi. If I had dims to work from I could better judge the kit and scale. Judging by the 1/700 Tamiya Gneisenau stacks next to them I would say 1/700 scale is it.
These kits were in there portfolio at the time :)

Thank you for your infomations.
Actually, I wonder if the scale of Akagi is 1/450 or 1/700.:rolleyes

Hi Buddies :lol

First pic, I wonder if ILM modeler used kit-bashing from any kits or any scratch built?

Second pic, Please let me know with the kit informations.

thanks Eric,

Easy : this is scratchbuilding and kitbashing ! :lol
The crane is kitbash, the sides of the docking bay are scratchbuilt and kitbashed with battleships guns.

The parts beneath the sensor array on top of the bridge module look like some kind of battleship bridge. I´m too young though for being able to know the donor kit...;)
