Anyone else pretty jazzed about this? 39" long, comes with the Flying sub, Mini sub, bridge interior, etc.!

Pre-ordered mine from culttvman.com :) Still have my, unbuilt, Lunar Models kit from back in the day.

Cheers,

I have always preferred the design of movie version of the Seaview, but Ill definitely be all over this TV version kit, if and when it is released. This kit looks like it will have some great kit bashing and detailing possibilities.

Bye for now

Heh, it really depends on what day of the week you ask me- Some days I prefer the movie nose, other days I like the TV version. :angel Depending on the final price, I may have to do both versions. You KNOW somone's going to do the movie conversion kit! :)

Ordered mine from Cult. There has been some talk that it will include both TV and Film front ends, but nothing is firm.We will have to wait until Moebius shows us the pattern and whats in the kit.Alexander

I hear you there, two versions would be a capitol idea.

I wish they had photos of the patterns or one of the test shots. THis is a great thing and I hope they do others in this larger scale. An after market kit of the things needed to convert to the movie/first season version whouldn't be that hard.
I like both versions but the later version with the four windows is my favorite version.

One of the cool things with subs and ships is that they're skinny! Even fairly big ones will still fit on a normal shelf and you don't have to give them their own table or anything. :p

Yes I agree Sarge Submarine models are great to display, only taking up narrow shelf space.

I’m building the Revell Germany 1/72 U-Boat Type VIIC it’s a great looking model and I would recommend the kit to anyone looking to build a great looking display piece.

I have just finished opening up all the flooding holes and am now waiting for the custom photo etched detailing parts to arrive. Not sure which version to build yet but have to make up my mind soon before continuing with the build. I’m leaning towards U 552 or U 96
.
Hope to get the Revell Germany U.S. GATO Class Submarine in the near future soon as I get caught up with other projects first.

I've got the Revel U-Boat in my "to build some day" stack--what an outstanding kit!

The movie version has always been my favorite for the window configuration on the Seaview. Not that it matters but I also post my vote for including both versions in the kit ;) Can't wait to see some pics.

Ordered. Gotta have.

Anyone know a largish scale SSN-571 USS Nautilus by any chance?

The few kits I have seen out there are rather dinky.

I just wrote them to see if they were going to release it with parts to do both the movie and TV version... :)

Cross you fingers!

I have seen a 1/192 scale display model built by fxmodels and one from TMC Pacific Modelworks in the same scale nice looking boats but the larger scales can be a bit pricey.

A Skipjack class sub in a similar scale would be good to find, if you wanted to recreate the chase scene from the movie. Of course, you would have to go with an 8 window nose.

My preference is still the TV version.

Like a lot of Seaview fans, I'm of two minds on the subject.

On the one hand, the four-windowed incarnation gets points for housing the Flying Sub, one of the coolest vehicles in the annals of 60's pop culture.

On the other hand, from a strictly aesthetic standpoint, I consider the original to be a sleeker, more graceful design.

Paul Lubliner's model from the early 90's really captures the streamlined contours of the original film miniature(s). Here's hoping Moebius rises to the occasion with the four-windowed TV version.

Thanks.

When it comes to the Seaview, Paul's da man. I never give up hope that he'll eventually manage to get his long-delayed replica of this subject to market.

Well, I heard back from Moebius, and the kit can only be built (out of the box) as the TV version. They said there were enough differences that it would practically have to be a seperate kit. :(

Oh well, time for someone to get cracking on the aftermarket conversion! :cool
