32 inch ESB Millennium Falcon

Pictures Pictures Pictures.
You guys wont get anywhere..unless...you can ILLUSTRATE what you are talking about.

You might as well be trying to point out a STARBUCKS from a CHINESE ROAD MAP.

The "two footer" remark...refers to this ship because they reference the saucer section. Which is about 2 feet. (Thanks Lee) The ship is really 33 inches long. More or less..depending what you are measuring.

Yeah. . . I know. I'd like to post some images here, but if I understand the "How to:" correctly, I need to establish a link to the image somewhere else on the Net (where my pictures do not exist). I could be mistaken. I'm unfortunately not the "web guru" I should be. Any help would be appreciated.

Cap, I think you are correct about those Sherman and Scorpion parts. Anyone else agree?

Dan

can anyone tell me the hieght of the side walls I am thinking of scuplting a few parts but need that diemnsion to start

thanks

........."can anyone tell me the hieght of the side walls"......

Your going to tackle this project , but you can't discern simple scale?

I'm not offended, just perplexed. In order to build such a complicated model, one needs to have a certain amount of skill and experience in this hobby. Without the ability to ascertain the dimensional properties of your subject, attempting such a project is ultimately futile.

Wouldn't you agree?

sir please don't go there you obviously don't know anything about my skills ....................................
builder for over 20 years all subjects
scratch builder for 10 years
professional builder 3 years

I own model constrution
we specialise in building rc boats and submarines as well as static (scale for the laymen)
I simply asked to for one peice of info to get a jump start is that soooooooooooo wrong I could take a year or so to blow up the pics and match up kit parts but I am a bit lazy that way besides spending too much time doing that with the BIG G

Its nice to get help once in a while would't you agree?
and with a project like this you can't tell me you have never asked anyone for help or info

thanks for the offense

Sir, I didn't INTEND to offend you.

I could care less about your personal modeling resume. I didn't forcefully request to see it. Nor should someone of your supreme stature have felt compelled to translate your level of expertice to such a disreputable, ignoramus such as myself.

It just seems obvious to me that any one attempting to build such a model, first would have the skill, confidence and knowledge to do so, and second would not ask for the correct dimensions of one of the MOST important parts of the project. If the correct donor parts are in hand then such a simple question is easily answered.

You just came off sounding like a newbie. And IF that had been the case then I might have saved you from gnawing on the end of a shotgun when you figured out you had spent several years on a complex project that ended up being incorrect.

sorry
I don't wish do get off on the wrong foot here I appreciate your cander on the subject

and if I did get the measurement wrong oh well it wouldn't be the first time I had to start over practice makes perfect

take care

Welcome to the Studio Scale Modeling Forum, where no simple query goes unpunished.

If your skin's thick enough, please stick around. The more heads put together on this stuff the better.

thanks many heads are better than none

ahh hah

I started drawing my plans does any one have any suggestions I am going with a an 18 inch diameter hull then blow it up to the required size 32.75 long I make it out to be

with a 24 : dished hull any one care to correct me here or berate me or what ever

my falcon scratch measures in @33in(L)x27in(w)by13in(h) approx. to find your exact side wall measurements, find photos of the side wall and take measurements from there. you can manipulate photos on your computer in "paint" to the proper size needed and take measurements of your pc.

thanks I found a few parts in my collection and did that but windows imaging is better suited to this than paint

I am also using the mpc kit as referance how acurate are the dimensions on it

the rear engine deck has several F 1 spoilers 13 to be exact top and bottom but I beleive the 1/20 kit parts are too big
can someone confirm or deny this allegation

please

it looks like an F-1 Spoiler...

But..its not from a 1/20.

The MPC kit?

OUCH......I dont think thats accurate at all.

1/43 then but wow those are far and few in between

I just finished my top plan took me all week and I still have to ink it and blow it up to know dimensions

man Ihave a lot of kits to buy yet its getting tothe point that I am thinking of putting the galactica on hold til I can take the time to draw up plans for that

right now I only have 12 kits wish me luck

Does anyone know when the tamiya 1/700 waterline Hood model was released? I don't see it listed in the 1976 tamiya catalog, but it is present in the 1989 catalog. I think it may have been used on the falcon but I don't know if it was available by 1978/1979.

Thanks

can any one shed light on the fins on the engine deck what kind of kits were used to part them together

any hints here are helpful

Can't shed light on those right now but I will share one thing..believe it or not the escape pod walkways and Jaws are a bitch to make(correctly). I would say to this point I thought they would be easy but they aren't and you'll just have to see when you get there. I have planned on having them done for the last 2 weekends and Dammit I'll have them done this weekend and then I'm on to the gear boxes and then plating yeesh.
