2nd Doctor, Patrick Troughton's recorder

Next came those Moroccan tassels.

I got some RIT dark green dye, and did the stove-top method. Took all of 4 minutes to get the shade I wanted.

Here's the before and after...

Next came the tassel attachment. I didn't have a good enough close up of the actual rings, so I just improvised. I found these at Michael's.... stretched them out, bent them back and tied the tassels on.

what about the gold? hate to nitpick on a pretty much zombie post, but i had to ask. but it looks to be splotched with gold in the pic. looks amazing tho/

I used a Renaissance Soprano Recorder for my build with German fingering.

what about the gold?/

Forgive me if I have overlooked some prior research or misread something, but where does this gold detail paint reference keep coming from. I have never seen anything definitive or authoritative which indicates Troughton's painted recorder actually had gold detailing. Every available photograph I have examined appears to have paint just flaking off and revealing the natural color of the recorder beneath.

Whether this wear was intentional due to the prop maker "aging" the recorder or through its normal use and being knocked about may still up for debate. But, I just don't believe the original paint scheme actually included gold details unless someone can show me definitive evidence otherwise.

I actually agreed with the pattern being consistent with paint removal due to use I just designed my own gold because it looked cooler.
