2014 Scarlet Spider build

also last night i drilled some eye holes and mouth holes in my face shell, now I'm not sure why people do the tiny tiny eye holes if there lenses are going to cover the area anyway, so i decided to give myself more eye room (all-around-peripherals) for posing and stuff. i also made the mouth holes to my liking for maximum breathing, the material was easy to drill through i used a medium drill bit and a large one for the eyes. done for now, next ill be searching for a waist belt/ankle belts, finish the web shooters/tracers, and finish the web pack straps.

next, i cut up my hoodie, it was pretty simple and fast with the right tools, i used some medical scissors to cut the sleeves, and a heavy duty exacto knife to 'dethread' the stitching on the pouch. took a few shots of how it looks in relativity to my arms/torso, i chose a size small (i wear a medium in T-shirts and jackets normally) for the hoodie, to give it that tight super-hero looking feel.

Excellent work here. This is where so many Scarlet Spider costumes fail - they get a hoodie that looks way too big, then it looks frumpy and you look like a superhero who forgot to wear pants. One thing I would recommend if you haven't done it already, fraying/aging the edges so it has a more "torn off" look. Nice job!!

Good catch with those Kung-Fu slippers, they look ideal. Those ankle pouches look like a great find too. I'm still trawling the inter-webs for some suitable pouches.

So today i worked on quite a bit of stuff, it turned out to be a great work day. ill start off with what took me the longest, the web pack. being an art student, we try to use things in a way which they aren't meant to be used and try new things, so i went to the thrift store with my girlfriend (so she could pick up some stuff for her gwen stacy costume) and i was looking around and i found this plain white triple 8 helmet. i decided to make the web pack out of that. seeing that i would put all my gear and items from the con in there (cell phone, wallet, goodies) i wanted it to have forum but most importantly function. so i started by taking out all the helmets padding and straps, then i did a light sanding to grip to the yarn better. after that i took an old bed sheet and cut it in half creating a half pouch for the helmet (reinforces the pack itself so i can fit heavy/lots of items in it). i used Epoxy for most of the glueing, and some old lock rite i had laying around. (I'm sure hot glue would work but i didn't have any on hand). after that set i started attaching an upper flap to hold larger object without them falling out of the pack, and i used some velcrow patches from the helmet to create a 'lock' (reuse reuse reuse!). after that i basically layered some white, and grey yarn in different directions until all of the pillow case was unseen. after that i used locktite on the edges of the helmet and made sure to press it through the inside of the yarn. after that set up i cut along the inside of the helmet leaving about a half inch of yarn on the pouch side, after that i epoxyed it all together on the edges that were loos and TA-DA! all done, now ill just have to drill some strap holes and string some yarn through. 'NUFF SAID

Nice, I like the size of it. I just finished mine as well. One piece of advise if you don't mind, really think about where you are placing your shoulder straps. Hind site for me I would have changed the opening on mine and the placement of the straps. Love what yaa did to the Sweat Shirt, I wish I had thought of taking the front pocket off mine before I painted it. Face Shield looks AMAZING man, I really can't wait to see how it all comes out, BEST OF LUCK TO YOU......

Alright guys THANKS for all the feed back :) last night I picked up a belt and ankle straps, I'll be working on those today along with finishing the web shooters/spider tracers.

i don't even have that app i just do everything off my mac, but I'm waiting on the my custom designed lycra suit, kinda important! :/ but with my muscle design I'm confident it will be perfect

so yesterday i had a bit of time to play with my shoes for the suit, i started by cutting the small thread pieces off the sides with a utility knife, went all the way around and they easily cut right off. after that i decided i wasn't going to use the top red part at all, because it was layered with different cloths and the sticking (that i just cut) was the only thing holding it together. but then DING it hit me. i had a fairly unused pair of yellow (prom color from back in the day) DVS shoes. and what was cool about them is that they had double impact soles for skating, the bottom one was for deep impact and the top was for comfort, (like what nike supplies with there elite running shoes) so i grabbed those out and they matched EXACTLY to the kung-fu soles, so i will E6000 the bottom of the soles to the bottom of the suit, then slip the yellow pads into the suit so i have something nice and comfy to walk around all day :) because in all reality the sole, and the padding is all a shoe is, the rest is for grip, looks, and protection....i don't need any of that, just comfort, and a slim sole.

also earlier today i worked on the final paint coats of the web shooters, belt buckle, and spider tracers, i ALSO worked on the belt and ankle straps :) man I'm glad the school i coach at was on spring break i would normally never have this much freaking time!

ill post the final painted products and belt once I'm done as the belt and ankle straps don't need much explanation.

progress updates: the web shooters are finished and drying, and the spider tracers from Goosebot 5000 turned out amazing! i did an clear coating technique i learned at school one year, that gives the top coat a metallic sheen without it getting too carried away, its very subtle. i love them! defiantly will be included in my belts design. other than that i just read some comics today, taking a break for a few days I'm tired, i did finish the ankle pouches maybe ill post them up sunday. as for now be on the look out for more updates i might do an update soon than expected we will see.
