It's been brought to my attention by a few members that some people haven't posted their interests in the thread here. An interest list helps your Santa think of something just for you so please take a little time and post one here if you haven't already.

So here is my dilemma with out revealing who's santa I am. For some one who can not build props how do I go about getting a gift for said person, as something I would like myself to have and probably get a lot of uses out in things he/she has listed in their interests? Or do I being the perfectionist gift giver I am come out and say I was given you as my secret santa, I saw you like XYZ which would you prefer something more something from X or,Y, or Z. Then with this ask some other general questions such as how many people live with you etc?

Buy them something cool even if it is a miniature version of what they like I am sure they will love what ever. if you read though the likes list the majority of folks here have said just that.
You can also ask questions through Michael, if you're really in a pinch :thumbsup

I've gotten some very cool gifts through this exchange. I don't think any of them were made by my Santas, but I still enjoy them. Don't forget that you're in a community of crafters and builders, so check the Junkyard for sales threads featuring something your giftee might like. This is also an opportunity to start making things you haven't before. Granted, keep it simple so you have time to send a backup if it absolutely fails, but I think that the people who received things I've never made before really loved them, even if they weren't perfect.
Also, I can't stress how helpful Michael's reminder to search your recipient's posts can be. You never know what he/she might say that will inspire you.

Well, hypothetically speaking I have no real needs right now and I don't just hand my address out willy nilly.
:lolGranted there are enough people here that have it so it wouldn't take a genius to send me something but I don't do this for presents. You'll notice the start of my interest post requests a donation to a charity, could be a donation of money, food, or could be a donation of your time. If anyone here would like to "pay it forward" to someone less fortunate than themselves and let me know it would warm my heart greatly.

I'm into Batman (specifically villains), Star Wars and Video Games; The Last of Us, Uncharted (Sony stuff basically), Lord of the Rings, fantasy etc I've got pretty broad tastes

Yeah, I am not very crafty myself. What I have done in the past is look through my recipient's interests and do some research. I then look over the Junkyard then move on to other items. You don't have to send a prop. One year I sent out a T-Shirt that was the same one worn by RDJ in the Avengers. It was simple to find on Amazon but did take some research to find out the exact shirt.
Pretty much anything you send will be appreciated. If this is your first year I know what you are feeling as I was the same way my first year. If you want some Ideas look up the 2012 Secret Santa Thread and see what people have sent to give you a better understanding of what past exchanges have looked like.
