1978 Monogram BSG Viper with MODS

Here is the 1978 release- Monogram Models BSG Colonial Viper with mods. I used aftermarket sets for the landing gear and the cockpit. The kits engines were dremeled away and custom engines were installed. The rear engine plate was also custom made. The detail resin kits I used were a very 'late run' with many misformed and missing resin so landing strut gear 'mud guards' had to be custom made and the rear struts as well. I used about 60% of the aftermarket cockpit and I scratch built the canopy. The guns were scatch built and all the orange stripes were airbrushed. If you look closely at the blast holes on the nose you can see that there is detail under the ships skin. I hope you enjoy what you see! SO SAY WE ALL!

OOOPS: I forgot to mention that I scribed all the panel lines, removed and replaced all the surface setals.

VERY nice!! I used to have that kit when it came out new eons ago, but it and my Cylon raider both melted when our house burned. :cry

That rocks, very cool detailing out to the landing gear that needed to be helped out. Nice guns also, just a bit different than the stock, nice touch. :thumbsup

Revell is reissuing the Viper, Cylon Raider, and Cylon Basestar with some newly tooled detail parts. No landing gear for the Viper, but it will include a clear canopy, cockpit and pilot, and an improved rear plate/engine nozzles/engine vanes piece:

Raider (second post): http://www.colonialfleets.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14460

Rumor has it they'll hit the shelves in late December. The new Viper still won't look as good as Fluke's, but a little improvement is better than none at all.

Well, I don't care what anyone else says, I think that looks great!

You did an excellent job on it.
Oh, I couldn't agree more. The added detail work Fluke did really enhanced the appearance of the kit, and makes it look much more realistic than a straight out-of-the-box build.

OK.....who paid you guys to say all that neeto stuff? was it Coby?

THANKS! :) I always wanted to put life to that kit. I had some of the ideas stuffed in my hard drive for a long time....but had to beef up my ram and driver to finally get to it.

Just watched RAZOR tonight and loved it! .....MARCH! I can't wait till march!

I guess I'll keep plugging away on my 1/24 Raptor to keep me busy. Found a way today to even light up those red lamps along the door opening. I'm nucking futz! :wacko
