Here are some replicas (well, at least as close as I could make them) of the 10mm pistol from Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. I used Nerf Mavericks as bases, and built them up from there. Now, I know that that's not nearly as impressive as building them completely from scratch, but as they were my first attempt at making more complex weapons by using reference photos, hopefully you guys will give me a bit of leeway with it lol. I decided to make one a more true replica, and removed the rotating cylinder that would usually house the darts, and I removed some material to make it more flat, then I followed my reference photo and tried to make it look as much like a 10mm pistol as possible. However, I kept the trigger and slide actions working, so that there are at least some still moving parts for the gun. For the other one, I kept the rotating cylinder, so that it still functions as a Nerf gun, and I added what details I could to make it look like the 10mm pistol.
For the paint job, I actually used two different types of paint. For the non-functioning model, I went with a steel finish (with actual bits of steel in it lol don't remember the brand off hand) as the base paint, and for the functioning one, I went with an the metallic aluminum paint by Rustoleum. I added rust affects to both of them, but decided to go with a heavier rusting for the non-functioning model. I was really happy with how they both turned out. As a matter of fact, the non-functioning one was sold shortly after I made it, and went to a lady who bought it for her sons Halloween costume. Apparently he REALLY liked it.
