Gone but not forgotten.
I can do airplanes too!!!! So here is a Frankenstein'd Tamiya A-10. I swipped the weapon pylons, pilot, ACES III, and rear cockpit section from the Revell A-10. I replaced the plastic nubs of the GAU-8 with 1/32 brass tube. I also built the rocket tube on the starboard wing from plastic and aluminum tube. Canopy, windscreen and windows on the AGM-65 Mavericks were all Future dipped, my first time.:$ Enjoy the pics

Great job! Love the idea with the base. Are those actually itty, bitty cars?

Iit's nice seeing some other real-world builds in here.

Yeah, if you click on the last pick you get a better look at them. But they are so small I couldn't get any closer. There are three HUMVEE like vehicles, a "troop transport" and the semi tanker truck. The trucks are about 1.5mm long and the semi is about 3mm. All five can fit on you pinky nail. I made them from plastic strip and plastic rod. The idea is that the A-10 is flying ahead of the convoy to make sure the "coast is clear". I need to send Pastor Jedi some artwork for one of his great plaques to go with this.

Nice A-10. Why did you have to replace the Tamiya parts? Seams like they usually put out better stuff then Revell.

Also love the base.

NICE....love the base as well!

Does your camera have a macro function? If so, try that for the cockpit closeups. Dey make-a my head dizzy:wacko

That looks fantastic!! One of my fav planes! :) Lovin' the base too, a great idea.....it really shows the model off well.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The Tamiya A-10 is one of Tamiya's oldest airplane kits and lacks a lot of detail. The cockpit had an oversized hinge system for the canopy to open. There was no prototypical detail there. The weapon pylons alos lacked details like the little stabilizer pads. I shelved the Revell kit as it can not be built "in flight" without major mods. The canopy on the Revell also did not match the profile of the fuselage or the front windscreen.

I will try the macro setting on the camera and see what I come up with. Thanks for the tip.
