1/24 scale VF-1 valkyrie

I think something in my pants just moved a little... :eek:eek:eek

I wonder how hard it'd be to cut a kit into all the seperate components and hinge it all back together? :love

Sweet!

I was just going to dig up this thread to see if you had gotten any more done.:lol
Looking forward to seeing the build up.

Absolutely gorgeous and I always wondered why they never made anything this scale in Japan considering Macross is still going strong and Robotech is still strong over here. I mean i love the small scale stuff but who wouldn't want a 1/72 Valkyrie that could transform. Especially since they gave us those giant gundam kits that don't do diddly.

They actually did produce and sell a 1/24 Valkyrie kit many years ago. Mike's new version is way more detailed and cool.

They still produce tons of Macross stuff in Japan, the last few years have seen more releases than even when the classic program was around with a full range of 1/48 scale perfect transformation transformalble Valkyrie, a 1/3000 and 1/2000 scale Movie style SDF-1, the current 1/60th scale range by Yamato covers even more obscure Valk colors and set ups such as the Elintseeker. They've also produced enemy mecha.

Edit- Not to even mention Macross Zero and Frontier that have huge, huge numbers of toy and model releases overseas.

The big reason you don't see the japanese stuff over here is the old Harmony Gold/Big West dispute that you can read about elsewhere.

Toynami in the US has put out some crap too, but I'd recommend you go japanese on this one, they are much higher quality.

And then between Mike and a prolofic Canadian kit master there have also been a lot of great model kit releases.

Oh yeah, last year in Hong Kong I found a model kit shop with a small ton of models. But then when we were at the Airport there was EVEN MORE!!! And EVEN COOLER KITS!!! And not to mention those HG or Ultra High grade or whatever they are called kits. But the boxes were so huge !!! :cry

Yamato also does 1/48 transformable Valkyries, but Wes' question was for 1/72 transformable Valks and the answer is that those have been available almost continuously (well OK, not quite) since 1982.

Yup, almost unchanged (look at the beauuutiful graphics) since then. The one that I bought is a Bandai reissue. The graphics alone make it worth to buy those kits!

So, when are we going to see a 1/24 scale Battroid mode version? Am I repeating myself here? It´s probably the shock when I remember that there is a 1/24th scale Monstroid in the works, too... or was that smaller scale?

A 1/24th Monster would be the size of a car :) If you look at the image gallery in my profile you can see one of Mike's V.1 1/72nd scale Destroid Monsters in pre-paint state put together for scale. Look how it Dwarfs the Soda can.

He's been teasing us with a revision / more detailed version of the Monster for a year or so.

I agree with Toynami's junk. Better off getting the old Robotech toys. even the stuff they put out in the 90s crossing with exosquad. Still this would be a nice addition to an anime fan's collection.

Wes, seriously, look up the Yamato toys from Macross, they'll rock your world if you're into this stuff. I utterly love their 1/60 Destroids. Poseable beyond belief.

Ghadrack, I'm certain Mike will deliver. So that's the Monster and Valk covered, is anyone out there up for a 1/1200 TV SDF-1? :)

Oh, don't get me wrong, that wasn't a jab at the master, I know what he can do. (just got a package from him the other day). Just having a little fun, his first few teaser pics of the new version with the added detail had me salivating :)

Yamato is the company that Fine molds needs to be. Those people don't fool around when it comes to giving the customers what they want.

After seeing what Yamato is willing to do to give macross fans every possible version of the valk as accurately as possible, I don't understand why Fine molds can't give their customers accurate version of studio scale models

Thanks guys...1/72 monster revision and a big TV macross are on the wishlist for sure....a few others as well but need to get thru this fist...

Few shots of the test build so far...
thanks
mike

Not to hijack this thread (with AMAZING WORK), but here are a couple of the yamato valks. They make a pretty sweet product.

PERFECT transformation...

(there's also a bandai valk from macross frontier there. Not as well made or designed as the yamatos)
