From macross, this is my latest scratchbuild that is just about wrapped up. I kind of approached this like is was an old school studio scale model. Some of the smaller parts/detail parts are not in the pic as they are in molds right now. The canopy is done but is getting it's gloss coats right now, it will be cast in crystal clear resin. Pilot figure is also in progress, a few pics of the rough up, parts are cobbled together since i can't glue the pattern together...
thanks
mike

Thanks, pilot will be generic DYRL pilot, I have a 1S head build now and am working on a 1A head as well....

Quick pic with the canopy in between gloss coats, i need to get this superglossy then i can add the framework...

Been wondering if you'd debut this here, Mike. Looking better than ever. Yum!

That's the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. What a cool way to break out of ever boring Star Wars/Star Trek mold! Will there be kits for sale?

Hubba Hubba. Looks great! Huge Macross fan here. Have you posted this over on macrossworld.com forums? They would go nuts.

Just plain awesome!!!

I was happy when i found a 1/72 VF-1S kit in Hong Kong, but 1/24... and don´t tell me your kit will be able to transform...

Thanks everyone, Rich, yep it was a real nice change of pace, I'm a huge macross fan and this has been on my wishlist for a very long time.....mold making for the big parts started today!

As for super/strike parts, maybe....right now the plan is to see how the basic goes, it was already a huge undertaking just to get here, so the plan is to get this molded up , build a test shot and try to enjoy it....

To keep things simple and affordable right now this is in flight, no landing gear, part of that decision was really to keep the time and money investment down, but as a practical matter in regard to the landing gear, it's huge! It would be hard to imagine this on a shelf with the gear down, this needs to be mounted more like a studio scale model or hung from a ceiling....

thanks again
mike

You dont do anything by half do you Mike? Thats bloomin' fantastic, and yes, a good bit of refreshment from the norm for sure......itll have some presence for sure!

Mike u told me one day you learned you don't
have to make things so big all the time!!:lol
Looks fantastic glad you got it off your wish
list!:thumbsup

Regards,
Michael

Beautiful work Mike! If you offer these up, I'm in for one for sure!

This looks amazing. Nice cockpit detail. I have a 1/48 and a few 1/60 toy/models but 1/24 is huge! This has to be with Max's VF-1S and paint in honor of the best battle in Macross the Movie DYRL.
