1/24 scale Ralph McQuarrie concept X-Wing scratchbuild

Thanks. It's definitely fun to make something from one painting.

I worked some more on it tonight. I made the bottom fuselage and cut out the canopy.

Since this is now going to be a resin kit, I've had to make some adjustments to make it a master pattern instead of a straight scratchbuild.

Thanks.

Fantastic news on the kit. This is coming out great. Those are some clean panel lines. :thumbsup

Does look great Rich, you have captured the lines of the painting so well, and matching up a rear end seems to have worked out perfectly.
Will you use Saturn Cans for the engine intakes? Just a though TBH as that would fit in very well.

Looking great, Rich!

Who is making the kit? (I hope it's you!) I'll start saving my pennies :)

Looking forward to the kit Richard! Love it so far.

Another project I'm very interested in (I might try it sometime or if you're on a roll...) would be the y-wings as shown in this painting too. I think it looks better here than in mcquarrie's tarmac painting, and a lot better than the prototype model. I think the cockpit area of this one gives a feeling of sleekness missing in those others.

The Y is the same ship as the outdoor/indoor painting, it's the perspective that's making you think it's sleeker. The front end is still a snub-nose...

Yes, it's the same ship but the proportions look much better in this view. I'd rather a model of it looked like this rather than how chunky the other renditions look. That's all I meant :)

Awesome job so far dude, it's fantastic to see these production painting ships spring to life as a 3D model, they have a life all of their own again and this build is really something quite special!.

Please everyone!

If there are enough orders for this (read deposits), I get to handle the molding and casting.

Beautiful!

How much we thinking here? Deposit and final price - $300-ish?

I'm in, dependably. Just steer me where, and tell me how much.
