Gone but not forgotten.
Ok, so we're counting down (after 30 years of waiting) for the release of the new Hot Wheels 1:18 Barris-type Batmobile, and it occurs to me how much more cool it will be with matching Batman and Robin figures. :D

I'm thinking a 4 figure set- one of each seated, and an "Action Set". with Batman opening his door and Robin in mid-hop over his door or mid slide across the hood. :)

Anyone heard anything about figures? Anyone here want to tackle them?

I'm sure someone will do them, but since the car has been delayed until next March, there is plenty of time.Alexander

Next March??? :confused

I thought they were releasing the fuzzy version at Comicon this weekend with the regular version in September???

That flocked version was 300 bucks.

The little 1/64 deluxe was 20.

they did have the normal version in the display case, I sure hope it comes out before March. There is a deluxe 1/18 due as well.

When was the Batmobile ever FUZZY?! :cry

Not on the show, but one of the tour cars got damaged back in the 70's and they flocked it rather than give it a proper paint job. :rolleyes

They called it "bat fuzz" :lol

I think one reason for the delay might be that the price of zinc,a component of the die-cast metal, has shot up greatly in the last few years, and they might be waiting for it to go down.Comic-Con has become an extension of the toy trade show, you can look but you cant buy. While I dont think Mattel will have a problem selling their Batmobile line,we have been waiting for 40 years, the die-cast business has been in declined and is in trouble.Alexander

The most recent update I received, from my supplier for the HW 1/18 Batmobiles, is that the Elite and Super Elite versions will be released in Nov '07 and the less detailed mass market (Walmart, Target etc..) versions will be released in March '08. Also, the 1/43 scale versions have been canceled.

That's good news on the release date. One thing I still haven't been able to find out however is what exactly is the difference between the elite and the elite special edition. The only thing I've seen is the special comes with a leather display stand. Anybody else know anything? Don't mean to hijack the thread.

Just more extreme detail, engine hoses, wires, that kind of thing is what I understand. I am hoping for working lights.

Anyone know were the best price for the 1/18 Batmobiles Elite :confusedcan be found.
