1:1 Silicone 'ESB' Yoda 'Full Statue'... FINALLY Done!!

I can only assume this comment was directed at me because someone posted in my yoda thread.

I think you're a great sculptor and extremely talented. I also think your yoda is awesome.

It's not about whose yoda is the "best".

.

I agree 100% with you Gino, I feel you and Phil have created one of the best Yodas ever and it will be hard to ever top! Sometimes (like with the original Star Wars films) the combined efforts of talented artists can really create magic!

That comment was not directed toward you in any way... I'm just burned out on this forum... it seems that everyone is all about comparing everyones work... I would love to see some of those who are that way actually pick up a case of clay, sculpt, and fabricate a pose-able Yoda for themselves! they would understand that our efforts are incredibly hard and takes a bit of work and skill!

Anyhow... I'm sure these will not be the last Yoda's :D

My apologies then.
And don't let it get to you. Comparing each other's work as well as comparing that work to the originals is a huge part of what the RPF is about.
Set your own goals, and try to reach them as best you can without worrying about anyone else.
People don't always realize that everyone's goals are not identical.
It's the same argument to be had when it comes to idealized vs. screen accurate.
People argue which props are "best" not realizing that they are being judged by those with a completely different set of criteria that constitutes what "best" is.
As long as you are happy with what you've done, that's really all that matters. When people love it too, it's a bonus.
There's room for everyone!

Gino, my attempt is for a 'screen' version, NOT idealized. And I feel I reached that goal ;)

One more thing to keep in mind when it comes to Yoda... he's not a Vader helmet, where side by sides can prove a definitive sculpture. He was a puppet with thin foam latex skins that always looked different. that is part of his likeness... Gino, your Yoda has very 'crossed' eyes... I'm sure that is done to help with Yoda's likeness? My ultimate goal for mine is a working puppet... hense the open mouth.

I just crack up when even my friends say on the day I post my new Yoda... 'Wonder when the others will pop up?" Too funny! Can't even last two days...

Come on, admit it, you stole this from the archives! Didn't you?

Jokes aside, you do set the bar incredibly high with each new project. No exceptions here.

Beautiful it is... life like is he. ;)

I love seeing everyone's amazing talents realized in works of art like this.
